OOC:
((How high is the top of the mound above the humans, if Drutha went straight in?))

If she went to G9, it would be a 20' drop -- jumping down would be a DC 15 Athletics check to avoid ending up prone and taking 2d6 from the fall. If she succeeded she could reach melee with any of the B* enemies.

If she went to D11, it would only be 10' down -- a DC 10 Athletics to avoid ending up prone and taking 1d6. But (allowing diagonal moves) that would only let her reach square E11 or E12 to get to melee with person B5.

If she stays on top of the mound to use her crossbow, she can fire from any of the squares under the gray line and the height doesn't add appreciably to the range (though it does let her target anyone).

[sblock=OOC]Hmmm...Saashala has just made it impossible to get to those guys around her, though. Can we get that marked on the map?[/sblock]

Drutha moved forward and noticed Saashala had filled much of the area with some spell, so she angled herself to the left, away from the spell area. She pulled out a pair of hand axes and sent both down at the humans.

Move: Move to K9
Action: Hand axe attack at B2: 1D20+4 = [20]+4 = 24

That’s a crit! If B2 goes down to the first attack, she’ll send the second at B3.

With a roar, Ripnek charges around the hill and heads straight for the nearest enemy. The bugbear gives a mighty slash with his shortsword.

Round 4

Nert ducks down (not far!) until he's no longer visible to the enemy, than pops up and fires at B1.
OOC: Taking the Hide action requires a Stealth check, so: Stealth: 1D20+5 = [19]+5 = 24
No problem -- advantage granted.

A solid hit! Finally he slips back behind the curve of the hill, out of visibility once more.
OOC: Though Nert moves after shooting to end up out of sight, he'd still need to make the Hide check next round to attack with advantage again.

B5 glances at Nert, but turns back and fires again at Moon Moon, missing again.

Ripnek, meanwhile, charges B5 with a fearsome roar and tears into him with a shortsword. B5 staggers under the blow, bleeding freely.
OOC: Ripnek can't use his "Surprise Attack" because the combat is already underway; the opportunity to surprise these guys in game terms has passed. To use Sneak Attack, he needs advantage, which means he needs to approach unseen and unheard. Unseen, I'll grant, as B5 has his back to you. For unheard, you'll need a Stealth check: Stealth: 1D20+7 = [9]+7 = 16
OK, then, Sneak Attack accomplished!

B1 changes his instructions to B2 and B3, pointing at Moon Moon and calling "Get that thing!" Then he rushes past B4 and B6, calling out "Bring her!" and leading the way toward where the horses were staked. Along the way, he pulls a Light Crossbow and has a shot at Moon Moon himself, also missing.

Then Moon Moon completes his gestures and the fire whooshes out, leaving the entire scene in darkness.

Moments later, Saashala finishes her incantation and tendrils of dark energy reach out to batter B3, B4, B5, B6, Ripnek, and the passing horse.

This is enough for B4 and B6; they grabbed this woman, and then she snuffed the fire and assaulted them with Necrotic tendrils? They loose their hold in panic and flee screaming toward the road; you hear crashing sounds as they encounter various brush or uneven ground in the dark. The horse continues on out of sight to the left. B5 sways under the attack of the tentacles and looks close to collapse.

Drutha charges toward the fire, making a great leap down from the top of the mound. Unfortunately the weight of her armor is too much, and her leg crumples under her on the landing. She falls prone, but still alert.

B2 and B3 finally shift into gear. B2 pulls out his crossbow to fire at Moon Moon as ordered, when the great crash of Drutha falling distracts him. He reluctantly tries to find the source of the noise in the darkness, and Drutha catches his eye as he locates her. "Over here!" he calls out, sounding as if he's summoning a squad of backup.
OOC: Search action:
Perception: 1D20 = [10] = 10

B3 shrugs off the necrotic tendrils long enough to take the shot at Moon Moon, managing a very solid hit, even in the darkness. Then he hears B2 call, looks around nervously, and takes off in the direction B1 was heading, stopping short as they nearly run into each other.

Round 5

Drutha grumbles to herself after her ignominious fall and takes a moment to compose herself as she rises back to her feet.

Eying the human next to her, she whips her glaive around at him, but misses wildly, still a bit shaken from her fall.
