Balance among classes and balance throughtout all levels of play.

IMO, that's the only real improvement, all others are up to discussion.

I'm closing this one - we currently have a policy of "No Edition War threads", and while I know that's not your intention, it's something this thread won't be able to avoid.

Have a browse through the General Discussion forum - there's plenty of discussion from people who both like and dislike 4E, so you should be able to get an idea.
