Kulan: Knightfall's Crisis in Bluffside Game [IC]

OOC: i wrote he wanted to see inside the room. Spritewing has the movement I think. Antitoxin will come handy if I can get to the knight
OOC: Okay, so you want him to get as close to the knight as possible. Got it.

Rockhorn urges Spritewing on past both Tuck and Tim. He soon finds himself in the portal room. Spritewing nearly balks when the duo see the portal. The knight is on the floor next to a table and chair. There is also a wooden chest sitting next to the table. To Rockhorn's left is a 10-foot alcove with a huge statue of a proud warrior standing in it. The statue has very little wear on it. It looks like it is a normal statue and Tim doesn't seem concerned about it.

However, the wild dwarf beast heart adept can feel the evil emanating from the portal. There is a maleficence to it. What's worse is the room's "not-ceiling", which appears to be pitch black darkness that seems to disappear into nothingness. It is beyond eerie. There is something beyond the dark above him, something that seems to be far away. It makes Rockhorn's skin crawl and Spritewing very nervous.

Rockhorn is soon next to knight on the ground who seems unsure of Rockhorn's intentions. The young knight wants to reach for his fallen blade, as he looks towards the wild dwarf with wide eyes. The warrior is a young human man who appears to be barely out of his teens, yet there is a deadliness to the man's eyes. This young knight has seen a lot of action.

The man makes several gestures towards Tim behind Rockhorn. He is speaking with his hands. Rockhorn has seen many primitive tribes in the mountain communicate in the same way, but he knows from Akos and the others that this is the only way the boy knight can communicate. Tim tries to assure the man with clearly spoken words. While the knight can't hear Sir Tymbeck, he seems to understand that Rockhorn and Spritewing are not a threat.

In fact, he seems rather amused by Spritewing's appearance. He tries to lift up his hand to stroke the pegasus' forehead but his strength fails him. He shudders again and a gurgling sound catches in his throat. He is sweating profusely. Rockhorn can tell just from looking at the knight that the man has been poisoned.

A favourite tool of the Loyalists, it seems.

@Tellerian Hawke:
Tim glances at the portal while trying not to look right at it. But, then, he sees what looks like movement on the other side. He cannot hear anything, but it seems there is something, or someone on the otherside... about to come through the portal. The magical egress seems to be humming with energy. Life is being drawn from the genie at a faster rate and she has little time left.

The deaf-mute knight looks at Tim, the portal, and the genie. He signs with both hands. Tim doesn't understand, but there is an urgency to the young knight's movements. Tim soon realizes the danger. There are more Loyalists coming through... and in a blink of hasted magic, they begin to step through.

Tuck can barely see the portal just around the edge of Tim's body, and he senses that danger looms from it. "Something is happening! Be ready for anything!" The kobold urban ranger shouts out to the others still in the corridor.

The portal moves with unnatural speed and the bluish-yellow light connecting the portal to the genie begins to pulse. The genie's skin begins to crack in her magical stasis.

Two more thugs are soon standing ten feet away from Tim in front of the portal and altar. They aren't surprised to see him or Rockhorn in the room. In a flash, four Loyalists step out of the portal to either side of the altar. All have their weapons drawn and are ready to fight to the death!

"FOR MASTER PHLEIX! KILL THEM ALL!" They shout in unison.

OOC: Arrive after Rockhorn enters the portal room (delayed until Init. count 10): Loyalist Soldier [Strike Force] - Initiative: 1D20+7 = [5]+7 = 12

Arrives at the top of Round One before Vincenzo's action: Brelish Thug [Strike Force] - Initiative: 1D20+5 = [13]+5 = 18

The Loyalists Soldiers move to the attack. The one who seems to be in charge takes a step towards Rockhorn and Spritewing and slashes out with his longsword. The man manages to cut the wild dwarf's shoulder. The other Loyalist beside the leader moves to try to kill the prone knight, but the young man is able to find the strength to grab and lift his sword with both hands and blocks the man's strike.

The other two soldiers set their sights on Tim. The first moves directly towards the half-ogre Knight of Vrocia and swings his swords, but not before Tim cuts a deep wound in the man's chest. The last Loyalist, a deadly looking woman with fierce eyes, moves carefully around Tim's kill zone while pulling a dagger from her belt. She sets herself near the southwestern alcove and throw the dagger.

Tim is able to bring his shield up and block the dagger... just in time. The weapon is embedded in his shield.

Out in the corridor, Vincenzo rushes forward to the open doorway and slides past both Tuck and Tim. He moves next to Rockhorn and his peagsus mount to keep the Loyalists from being able to flank the wild dwarf without having to bypass Tim's kill zone.

Tim brings his blade around once, twice. He cuts two more deep wounds in the Loyalist who dared get close to him. The man is soon bloodied but does not fall. One more hit will likely kill the man.

Custodio runs forward with his shield and warhammer past everyone in the corridor. He moves to stand on Tim's right and threaten the man who Tim has bloodied badly. "I know you won't surrender, and I'm through offering you lot the chance to save your miserable lives. All you can hope for is a quick death."

The Vanquisher cleric keep his focus on the man, but Custodio notes the woman with a longsword in her hand. He can tell it is dripping with poison.

Tuck moves into the room on Tim's left and puts himself against the wall. He picks the closest thug as his target and fires his crossbow. The bolt hits its mark.

A moment after Tuck enters the room and shoots one of the thugs, the portal ripples again and another figure steps through from the other side. The bestial man is dressed in strange clerical garb and wields a powerful heavy mace in his left hand and carries a heavy steel shield on his other arm. The creature has obvious diabolic features including glowing yellow eyes that seem to burn with an inner light. His teeth are long and protruding, and the smell of brimestone spreads out from him after his arrival.

"So, this the place he told me of," the being says to no one in particular. He glances towards the genie and then turns towards Tim and Custodio. "Ah, my intended victims. I must do my order proud and put them down." He locks his eyes on Tim. "Quite the challenge... perhaps?"

The cleric raises his mace into the air and speaks a guttural phrase to some dark, unknown god. "Let us see how strong you are!" He points his mace towards Tim and Custodio and two bolts of shimmering moonlight streaks through the air and hits both the Tall Knight and the Vanquisher cleric.

OOC: Moon Bolt: Both Tim and Custodio must make DC 17 Fortitude saving throws. The damage is 2d4 Strength. On a succcessful save, the Strength damage is halved.

Cleric of Darkness - Moon Bolt (Strength damage vs Tim and Custodio):
1D4 = [1] = 1
1D4 = [1] = 1

EDIT: Is 2d4. So, 3 for Tim and 5 for Custodio.
Extra Moon Bolt Strength damage: 1D4 = [2] = 2
1D4 = [4] = 4

I plan on living forever. Or die trying.
Akos hears the proclamations and combat and hurries forward. Reaching deep into his connection to the fey, he calls forth Unicorns, fierce defenders of nature and capable magical healers.

He hoped to see multiple creatures appear, but the connection in this magical dungeon to anything natural is tentative at best. Still, the one that appeared will do.

He shouts in Unicorns native language
"The knight on the floor next to you is poisoned. Neutralize the poison and then heal him as best as you can. The half-ogre, the dwarf on the pegasus, and the sword-wielding cleric next to the half-ogre are allies. So is everyone on this side of the door. The rest are Far realms cultists that need destroying with extreme prejudice. Commence!"

Turning back to common, he shouts to the group and tries at the same time to sign to the knight on the floor once the summoning is complete.
"The Unicorn is a friend!"

Free: 5' ste "up" on the map
Swift: anklet of translocation, teleport 10' up
Full round: Number of Unicorns: 1D3 = [1] = 1
Free: speech in Sylvan

Vitus moved up to the door and saw the chaos unfolding in the room. He steeled himself and willed his magical boots to propel him forward into the fray. Running past Tim, Tuck and the other fighters, he moved to the Knight 1

"I'm a friend! Let's heal you up and get you back to the fight!"

Then Vitas used words of power. He was careful and dodged and weaved as he cast the spell, preventing the enemies from finding an opening.2 Suddenly, a portal of his own opened up. He touched the Knight and then were both gone.

In front of Akos, a smoky blue portal opened up and out plopped Vitas and the Knight.

1. Move action 40 feet brings Vitas directly behind the Knight.

2. Vitas casts Dim Door on the defensive

I'll have us appear exactly where Vitas left (that way you don't have to move Vitas when you update the map.)

Tim looks down at where the bolt hit him, and then sideways to Custodio, and finally back to the cleric.

"Was that supposed to hurt?"
"If I cannot hurt you with magic, then I will hurt you with my mace," the bugbear cleric says with a sneer.

Vitus moved up to the door and saw the chaos unfolding in the room. He steeled himself and willed his magical boots to propel him forward into the fray. Running past Tim, Tuck and the other fighters, he moved to the Knight

"I'm a friend! Let's heal you up and get you back to the fight!"

Then Vitus used words of power. He was careful and dodged and weaved as he cast the spell, preventing the enemies from finding an opening. Suddenly, a portal of his own opened up. He touched the Knight and then were both gone.
The Knight seems to understand that Vitus wants to help him, yet he is surprised by the magic that whisks him out of the room and away from the genie.

The unicorn begins to form near the doorway. Akos chooses to summon a version that is like Spritewing in size. The Loremaster watches Vitus move into the room ahead of him.

TaranTheWanderer said:
In front of Akos and the unicorn, a smoky blue portal opened up and out plopped Vitus and the Knight.
The knight's visage turns from understanding to worry... and a bit of annoyance. Yet, he is happy to be out of the fray.

Akos watches with surprise as Vitus and the knight appear in front of him, but he needs to keep his focus on summoning the unicorn. It will take several seconds for the creature to appear.

"So, that's how we'll play, eh?" Rockhorn sneers at the soldier "I've fought the likes of you in the arena while your papi was still only a glimmer in your granma eyes.
Switching to dwarven he instructs Spritewing
"Smash this fool and give me space for a lance."

Spritewing rears up and kicks down causing the soldier to pull back slightly. Dropping down on all fours, Spritewing dips a bit and pulls back. Dipping gives opportunity to his rider to push forward against the mass of the equine body and slam the lance home.

The gauntlets of giant felling enhance the attack as it goes against the larger man.

Spritewing attack:
Spritewing hoof; damage: 1d20+11 = [4]+11 = 15; 1d6+5 = [2]+5 = 7
Spritewing move: 5' step (diagonal up, next to the statue)
Rockhorn attack:

From his vantage, Vitas could see Rockhorn and Spritewing falling back against the wall.

“Hold the line! Don’t let them push us out of the room! We need to control the space around the door!”

The gauntlets of giant felling enhance the attack as it goes against the larger man.
The soldier shifts back and lifts his shield to block Spritewing's kick. The Loyalist steadies himself as the mini-pegasus steps away towards the statue. The man keeps his shield level with his eyes and easily blocks Rockhorn's attack with his lance.

"You're ancestry is yours, dwarf," the man retorts. "It means nothing in the face of my Master's grand plan for the world."

Tim wonders if the two thugs in front of him will step forward to challenge him. Instead, one steps north along the edge of the pillar and stabs at Vincenzo with his short sword. The Sectarian easily manages to parry the blade with Lil' Vinny.

The other thug tumbles away around the wounded Loyalist and comes up next to Custodio. When he comes back to his feet, he is hold both his short sword and a vicious dagger in his other hand. He tries to drive the dagger into the Vanquisher cleric's chest, but Custodio manages to block the blade with his shield.
