Vinny takes two steps and pukes. The shieldbearer spell he cast moments ago moves about trying to find what attacked the wizard but finds nothing . The wizard wheezes as he stumbles toward the gate and tower. His feet feel like lead as he climbs each step but he knows he must see to the defeat of the beast!

"Watch out for ambushes and traps," Tuck adds, looking at Sobla in particular. This is exactly the situation kobolds create to avoid being overrun in their own tunnels, so the two of them know what may be waiting for them. Sure, these are no kobolds, but still. It pays to be careful.

The urban ranger holds his sword in one hand and his loaded hand crossbow in the other, ready for anything.

OOC: Just adding a post for RP reasons.

Tim sees the horrid beast approaching, and is awed by both its sheer size, and its mass of both heads and tentacles. For the first time ever, he is somewhat afraid. The horrid lava beast from the wizard's underground sanctum had not affected him like this. For the first time ever, Tim wonders whether or not this battle will be his last. But his morale, his courage, and his sense of duty are far stronger than his fear, and they combine to urge him forward, into the breech, where death and courage meet face-to-face.

Tim shouts out loud to steel himself, but also to encourage those around him: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of this beast, for Syvatagor goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Tim darts in and out between the nearby trees, using them as cover; he sees no reason to surrender a superior battlefield position for false bravado. After several zigs, zags, dodges, and feints, Tim manages to strike a telling blow, striking the most exposed, most easily available part of the beast's body: its belly.

Tim grunts, "Take that, foul beast! Taste the steel of the Valencia Family!"

Sobla nods her head and begins searching the crates.

Start of Round 20
While Falen looks inside the closet, Tuck checks the wall on the other side of the opening, as well as the floor and the weapons rack next to the 'obvious' hidden entrance. He doesn't find any traps. But, while looking through the weapons rack, he finds that one of the remaining weapons, the spear, is stuck slightly.

The kobold urban ranger pulls it off the rack and checks the weapon's shaft. There is a small hole in the end of it. He looks again at the rack and sees that the weapon slots into a cleverly hidden lever. He tells Falen to back away and tries to pull the lever without the spear in place. It doesn't move. So, the spear has to be in place. He puts the spear back and tries again.

The spear-lever shifts forward towards him.

Inside the closet, Falen watches as the floor shifts down and slides away from him to the north. A short 10-foot wooden stairway opens up leading down into the tunnels. It is pitch black, but Falen can clearly see a Brelish thugs standing at the bottom of the stairs. The man has his hand crossbow ready to fire.

He fires his hand crossbow up the stairwell at Falen, then he steps away and another thug appears at the bottom of the stairs. He fires as well, then he drops his hand crossbow and draws his short sword.

Falen:
(Yes he’s already imbibed the Cat’s Grace potion.). Expecting the thugs…or someone anyway, below, he winks at Sobla, “Time to get busy. I’m betting these tunnels access these buildings. We need to secure them before we engage the monster as well. Or we’ll have their ilk to continue to deal with.
Falen would enjoy fighting the monster on more favorable terms; perhaps stake one tentacle at a time reaching through doors of one of these buildings. But that requires not having one’s back exposed. So fighting “two fronts” it is for the moment.

He attacks the closest brelish thug on the stairs. After all, he & the young Kobold have the high ground. 😉

Falen's throw is nearly perfect. He watches as the flask hits the thug in the shoulder and burst into flame. The flames scorch the man and splash around him. If any of the other Loyalists are close by, they will also be burned.

"We've got this," Tuck says to both Falen and Sobla.

The Sectarian Captain hands the amulet and ring to the two guards. "Put these on. They should help protect you."

The two guards nod and take the magic items from Ela.

"What is the situation?" She asks.

"The commander and Captain Camburn are facing off against the creature alongside the Exemplars," Zenpher tells her.

"But, the kobolds and the other one, what's his name..?" Maena adds.

"Falen," the captain says. "The Wizard Council has been aware of him since he arrived in Bluffside. He has handled himself quite well."

"Yes, he and the kobolds, Tuck and the other big one," Zenpher says. "They are heading down into the tunnels to try to use them against the creature."

"And hunt for the escaped cleric," Maena adds.

The Sectarian Captain nods. It is a good plan. "Who else is going with them?"

"Just the big dog, I think," Zenpher replies.

She shakes her head as she works to get the magical bracers off the dying woman. "That's not enough. They're going to need help." Just as Ela gets one bracer off the woman, the fallen enchanter takes one last breath and then dies. "You two go... back them up. If you face a lot of resistance, gently remind them that retreat is an option."

She hands the dead enchanter's belt and gloves to them as well. "Give these to the Exemplars, tell them that they'll help. I don't have time to find out exactly what they do, but they are not profane."

"Yes ma'am," Maena replies with a salute.

"Come, Spritewing, check out that beast."
The pegasus beats faster its wings and it comes close to straight above the beast at a safe distance
Rockhorn fires the crossbow at the creature and the bolt easily hits, but the poisoned bolt deflects off the creature's hard hide. The bolt was unable to penetrate in between its scales.

OOC: I'm assuming Rockhorn doesn't have a 'swift' special ability to automatically make a nonmagical weapon magical
