Doing well, thanks.
I wonder if anyone has tried to create this list with all the 'semi-official' materials, such as Oriental Adventures/Rokugan, Kalamar, Dragonlance, etc? I don't have all such material, so I wouldn't have an inkling of all there is.
That's good
That's an interesting idea, that is. I wonder if anyone has (I feel a new thread brewing!)

71 base classes? 71?!
Proof positive this game really *has* become bloated beyond all rationality.
And the scary thing is, somewhere out there is a single character with 1 level in at least 40 of them at once. Yikes!

How so? In 2e/AD&D, wasn't there just as many kits floating around?
In any case, I am a fan of options, so the fact that there are 71ish+ classes is fine by me.
Also note that certain classes do share a bit of an overlap - indeed, most of the Unearthed Arcana classes are simply one class with some of the abilities of another and they have the highest number of base classes in a single book, at 14 (if my counting is correct). So only a few more than 40 "true" new classes have been developed beyond the PHB and their close cousins in UA.
Given that in 3.5e we have such great gems like the Archivist, the Beguiler, the Dread Necromancer, the Favoured Soul, the Knight, the Marshal and the Scout for new base classes, I have to say I am in favour of this so-called "system bloat" the doomsayers are crying wolf about. My own group has enjoyed most of these classes and I've read testimonies of countless others here on EN World about enjoying they as well.

Dude, I wouldn't even call the CW Samurai a class...
Hey man,
That's why I said most-specifically "
technically" - I'm well aware of many other people holding your view Razz - but my point was to be indifferent to such debates about OA vs CW and just show the most recent version in my list. I always ban Oriental classes in my games anyways, as I view them disrupting to the themes of my games, and that includes the monk, which gets replaced with a pugilist class in its' stead.
cheers,
