[sblock=OOC]Well we *are* riding at 80 klick an hour down a desert gully, so I figure we aren't shouting from car to car on the highway, so to speak. :) Those incoming raiders definitively changed course when Seif contacted Burroughmeister via radio, and very precisely too, so while the *Beast* itself might be immune...

Re radios, Seif has one built into his camel and the buggy has a radio built in as well, I believe. At least Burroughmeister silently coordinated their attack during that first barricade fight, so it seems likely.[/sblock]

OOC: Radio transceivers were installed on the buggies and crawlers... however like the one on the Beast, the camel, and the ones badguys have, they are not encrypted (subtle).

What's been happening is that I've been rolling to see if each of the various groups have been picking up messages that were not sent to them.



"Surveyor and Odyssey, this is Deezy...we met before. The other caravan? Well, that airship you guys see is full of raiders. You gotta shoot it down, or get away. Don't let them reach you."
Deezy Tech: 1d20+10=30 vs GSB --> Auto success.

"This is Surveyor I, we hear you loud and clear. We will deploy a squadron of interceptor aerodynes to deal with the raider airship. Estimated time of contact 24 minutes. I hope this will buy your caravan enough time. Over"
Surveyor Tech: 1d20+5=17 vs GSB Tech 1d20+9=15 --> Surveyor Successful

The group raced east through the wasteland for about twenty minutes with the raiders trailing behind them by about a half mile before the distant shape of the caravan's deployed airship could be seen on the forward horizon.

With each passing second, the shape of the raider's airship slowly grew and it closed in from behind the group. Due to it's speed, it appeared that raider airship would intercept the caravan at the same moment that the group would have reached them. That is, if it were not for Surveyor's interceptors.

Less then five minutes after raider airship became visible, the sky surrounding it became thick with puffs of smoke as they battled against the aerodyne squadron. Soon after the aerial battle began, the airship's course quickly changed to a southern heading, away from the caravan. Several moments later, a faint stream of smoke can be seen moving about, a sign that one of the aerodynes was critically damaged. The doomed aerodyne then could be seen maneuvering into a suicide run that concluded with the destruction of the airship's starboard gas envelope and the downing of the raider airship.

OOC: The raiders haven't been trying to push their "dune bikes" to close the distance on the group. At their current speed, they will reach the caravan about a minute or so after the group. Unless told otherwise, the caravan's escorts are staying close to the crawlers.

In other words, you have control of the battle field.

Brian let Deezy and the desert guide argue over the technicals of communication, and tried to use his own abilities as best he could. If they were pushing the engines like he thought they were, the enemy engines ought to be ridiculously easy for him to spot with his special senses. And if they were already pushing the red, then they shouldn't be surprised at an engine fire, now should they...?

[sblock=ooc]Trying to find the enemy ground vehicles with his infravision, then use his perception Ignite on those. He's hoping it'll take them a minute (and hopefully a vehicle or two) to realize it's an attack and not just engine overheating.[/sblock]

OOC: It would take about a minute to disable one of the bikes that way (around 8 or 9 rounds due to their toughness). I'm actually not sure if they would suspect they were under attack if you using your ignite power until the second bike "overheated" or until one of the raiders started to spontaneously catch on fire (OMG! Lazerz!) or suddently caught frostbite.

"A good passing," grimly approved Seif. "I suggest we take out the raiders *now*."

[sblock=Actions]Could we get some sort of list of ennemies/allies and their positions relative to, say, our own caravan, Relique? If I got the general picture right, Seif will maneuver his camel to a course semi-parallel with the lead attacking vehicle and then *jump* onboard, swords drawn, when he's still 200 feet away! (Hopefully gaining surprise)

What do these guys look like close up by the way?[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]With the time issue, and if Seif's wading into the fight anyway, probably best to just use an Ignite / Flash Freeze in conjunction, hitting another raider as Seif's leap takes him in to add to the confusion and surprise[/sblock]

OOC: Alright let me make this easy.

The area you are off-roading through is pretty much a mixture of the American soutwestern desert and the Australian outback. Meaning lots of red rocky sand, desert shrubbery and the occasional rock outcroppings and plateaus scattered around.

The caravan is about 5 miles a head of your group (less than 5 minutes away). The main enemies are between a quarter mile to a half-mile behind you (four bikes all together). About 1 two 2 miles to the South West is the enemy crawler, which you assume has 4 people on it (according to that one conversation Abal had with her Master). The airship was downed at least 5 miles north west of your location and the aerodynes are buzzing around it like flies on a carcass.

In terms of their visual appearance, these raiders pretty much appear to be dressed in layers of ragged clothing or patchwork leather that has metal plates sown onto them. Each of the raiders is wearing various pieces of head gear (goggles, helmet, gasmasks, etc).

It should be noted that it appears that are guns built into the lead bikes handle bars.

Group 1: (~.25 mile away)
Lead Dune Bike: 1 rider.
Dune Bike 2: 1 female rider + 1 "male passenger" (rear seat).

Group 2:
Dune Bike 3: 1 rider + 1 "passenger" (side cart).
Quad Bike: 1 Rider.

Group 3:
Enemy crawler: 1 driver + 3 passengers

Deezy gaped as she watched the kamikaze crash that took out the airship. As the others made plans, she made condolences.

"Surveyor...Odyssey...Deezy here again. I saw what happened. I thought they were coming for you at first, but...well, we owe you. I'm sorry it came down to that. You've got heroes in your team. Anyway, least we can do is take care of the rest. Maybe sometime we can actually meet. Thanks guys."

Then she was switching the Beast's targeting systems on and swiveling the machine at its midsection to 'look' backwards at the oncoming bandits.

Over the team radios she said, "I'm putting her in autopilot, so if it looks like someone's gonna get stepped on, yell, okay?"

Then she was watching the range readout tick down...wouldn't be long now...

(once they're in weapons range, she'll let 'em have it with both barrels!)

Seif charged his camel towards the lead raider's bike and leaped onto it...
Seif 1d20+10=25 vs1d20+6=18 --> Seif successful.
.. landing on the seat behind the lead raider.
"Cripes Mate! Get ya stanky hide off ma bike!"
OOC: Waiting to see what you do.. since you still have a standard action. (I'm considering the leap to be your move).

"Hold still! If my woman lines up my shoot I's gonna shoot 'im off yer bike!"

Brian concentrates on the second bike's rider...
Raider Tough: 1d20+2=14 vs 21 --> Auto Death
... causing the raider to burst into flames and lose control of the bike and instantly killing the second bike's rider and passenger..

Deezy opens up her autogyros and unloads on rider 3...
Deezy: 1d20+4=24 --> Crit Hit.
Raider Toughness: 1d20+4=5 vs 26 --> Reduced to mist!
It sucks that they are mooks.... such over kill.

...and inadvertently destroys the dune bike and it's side cart in a fiery explosion.

One of the Raiders starts to feel moisture gather on his clothes, progressively more and more, until he finds himself gripped by belt of water, that threatens to rips him off his bike.

OOC: Using Snare on a Raider bike driver. Momentum should send the bik ahead while leaving the guy snared onthe floor kms back. Ranged attack: 23, Snare DC 17
