May and December...how young is too young?

Shouldn't that be over the legal age of consent is not too young to date.

Actually I get this feeling now when I see some of the young girls at work or when I'm out, after all I was an adult when an eighteen year old was born.

My folks are 9 years apart - not so odd now since he's 75 and she's 66. But when viewed from the perspective that she was in 4th grade when he was a senior in high school... Eww. But they didn't meet until she was > 18.

It's funny that I have had similar experiences to several of the earlier posters - seeing an actress (underage) in some show or movie and thinking "wow, she's cute heating towards hawt" and feeling a twinge of guilt. I'm glad it seems that both are normal feelings.

Overall I'd agree that too young is when someone is too immature to deal with the relationship in question, or the legal age of majority, whichever is greater.

My mom and dad were 8 years apart; they met when she was in her early 20's. My wife and I, however, are less than a year apart (same graduating class, even!)

Younger than 17 to me is too young for a serious relationship, no matter the gender - and the funny thing is, that's considered old-fashioned now.

Before I met my wife, I had made it a policy to date no one under the age of 25. I'm sure there were plenty of exceptions, but I simply had never met anyone that young that I was able to talk to for any length of time.

Anyway, back when I did contract work for the Veteran's Benefits Association in 1996, there were three women who were still getting their benefits from their marriage to their husbands who had served in the ... wait for it ... Civil War. Now THOSE were guys who married someone younger!

It all comes down interest and wants in life. The one I was in, 45 to 26 and while we had a lot in common the wants were different.

This is what makes me uncomfortable with checking out the lovely Ms. Johansson: I graduated high school when she was born...

Oh, in the above, I meant to also say ... the part of my brain that says "wow" when I see Scarlet Johansen is a very old formation; older, simpler, and quicker than the part that can do math. So while she falls short of half+7 formula (for my age), it's okay to aknowledge that she looks good.
