There are six doors in the hall: Two doors marked CLASSROOM immediately after the entrance (on its left and right), followed by MEN'S (to its left) and WOMEN'S (to its right) bathrooms, and finally STORAGE (to its left) and OFFICE (to its right) right before the sanctuary doors. None of the doors have locks.

There's a BEEP BEEP that probably makes a few of the group jump. It's Agnasci's cell phone receiving a text. It's from BR - looks like he's woken up: my man! see you n a week little buddy. A few moments later Agnasci gets another text from BR: btw were having a cookout on wed you should be there mad dog wants to meet you.

Agnasci isn't ready to share with the others just how deep he's getting with the Dogs of War. Better that they stay mostly ignorant about it. He briefly reads the text and puts his phone casually back in his pocket.

"Nobody here but us and the ghost," he mentions to the others. "Unless this dump takes this precise moment to collapse, I think we're safe for now."

Agnasci will check the men's and women's restrooms before heading back to the car.

Law opens the door marked STORAGE while Agnasci heads to the men's bathroom.

The storage room is mostly empty: There's a stack of dust-covered folding chairs in one corner and a few torn apart and disintegrating cardboard boxes in another. There are more beer bottles scattered about under a broken window. There's a door leading outside, left open. Rain is pattering against the ground outside.

Agnasci uses his cellphone as a meager flashlight while checking the bathroom. There are three stalls, a sink, and a shattered mirror. Agnasci pushes open the first stall but thinks better of a closer investigation when he sees what looks like black tar in the toilet. He wrinkles his nose and heads back across the hall toward the women's bathroom, which is in the same shape as the men's.

Law goes into the office next. There's a broken office chair here but the desk is gone. A filing cabinet has been tipped onto its side and there are dusty papers everywhere: Everything from financial documents to planned sermons to personal mail, all over the floor. Law's light stops on the crushed glass of a framed degree - a B.A. in religious studies from NAU for someone named Milton Young, presumably the dead preacher. A wooden crucifix hangs undisturbed on the far wall.

Last are the classrooms. The room to the entrance's right has been completely emptied and only bottles, cans, and cigarette butts remain. There's a shuttered window that would open to the front of the church. The other classroom has another shuttered window, the second eye of the church's dark face, and a pile of collapsible tables and folding chairs at its center. There are boxes lining two of the walls - a quick check reveals old art supplies in one. A dusty banner of construction paper hand-turkeys still hangs across the ceiling in here.

There doesn't seem to be anything else. As Law reappears in the hall Agnasci is walking outside into the rain on his way back to the truck.

Law pushes a button on his key and the SUV makes a small chirp. The doors unlock and the dome light comes to life allowing Agnasci to enter. Law waits at the opening of the church for the others to leave as well.

After tagging along for the exploration, Chance hangs back a bit on the way to the car.

"I dunno...feels like we're missing something. Is there a basement or something? Otherwise why is he even having us come out here?"

Agnasci shrugs. "Who knows. Probably just wants us to see what kind of place it is. He doesn't know any more about than what he told us, I'll bet."

Harper sounds as dissatisfied as Chance. "Yeah, I don't get it. If we can't detect the hallow, and can't do anything to the hallow, what's the point of making us come out here?" He shakes his head and glances around the sanctuary again looking for a baptistry of some sort and a door that would lead to changing rooms or service rooms.

Searching around with the flashlight Law gave him, Harper finds a bend around a wall behind the podium in the sanctuary, with a closed door that likely leads outside to the parking lot. There don't seem to be any other rooms: It's a very simple structure.

Harper follows the wall around to the door flicking the light of the flashlight into every corner as he goes. Good chance the door is chained like the front door but he'll try it just to make sure. If the door is chained and he can't get it open or squeeze through then he'll go back through the sanctuary and out to the truck. If he can get out he'll quickly look around the back then circle round to rejoin the others at the truck.

Approaching the door Harper finds that it's been left very slightly ajar, its knob broken - probably by vandals. Outside is more litter and a dumpster, which Harper peeks into - there's a small mound of garbage inside. Harper gives the church one last look. What a shame. He heads back to the truck where the others are waiting.

What now?
