Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

"Three of the regenerating elementals are fire, and three earth. They regenerate at pylons bulging out of the walls. They're impossible to miss. Don't damage the pylons, though, they are part of the tower's basic workings.

"The first floor has one earth elemental, and the pylon that it regenerates at is at the back of the first floor hall, at the base of the stairs. There are two fire elementals on the second floor. One pylon is by the stair to the third floor, while the other is in the forge room. The pylon for the one of the earth elementals normally on the third floor is at the second floor stairs down. The remaining elementals are on the third floor. The fire elemental will be at the stairs up, and the two earth elementals are at the stairs down. Both pylons are in the middle of the hallway."

"The automated summoner conjures random elementals of any type, but their orders are fixed and cannot be changed while it is active. If you can disable it and defeat the elemental from the pylon, I can disarm it until further notice or put you on the list of people who may pass unescorted."

Keldar stirs restlessly, and starts to extend a finger towards the shimmering Cassandra, before thinking better of it. "Pylons. Automated summoner. Maybe we could pour a lot of water about to keep the fire elementals away from us."

Galwynn absently slaps Keldar's hand away.

"...burglars? If there's no problem or wait with the tower here, shouldn't we be spending our time catching a lead on the thieves'?

Sorry, Keldar. I think we might have to chase down some old friends of yours. Let's look for wheel tracks in the dirt nearby."

Galwynn scowls, and spits in the grass nearby.

The burglars are quite dead. One of them took a fall from the fourth floor trying to go through a window, as well as a glyph of warding. The other got incinerated by a fire elemental. All they managed to do was overload the system for a few seconds when the glyph went off and the summons appeared. They didn't even get the door open. If the overload hadn't been during a crucial part of the experiment, we wouldn't have this problem. Everyone is safe currently, so resting and getting the best spells prepared sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

"Easy enough. Shall we all meet here at first light tomorrow? Or should we all just converge upon the local inn and grab rooms?"

"My merfolk would not stoop to burglary," says Keldar. "Besides, they can't handle stairs. Spitting is disgusting, Galwynn."

"Are we sure someone sensible shouldn't stay here, near the tower?" asks Keldar. "In case the situation should change, so Cassandra could holler for help. I would suggest... hmm... myself and... Rapture."
