Very true. Forgot about the initial setup price! ;) Yes ... that can be rather steep. But if you already have satellite TV the extra price for the internet is very minimal by comparison. Many people really like DirecTV for their "cable options", and if they have no other options in their area it is not a bad way to go.... :\

Six to one, half dozen to another I guess....

Well, I don't think you can merge your Sat. Internet with your Sat. TV. You have to get a whole new dish and all that. So besides the cost of hardware, you'd be doubling your monthly bill at least. (When I first got DirecTV, it was $30, now it's up to $50 or so).

Take a look at the NWN2 tweak guide, you might find it useful:

Especially:

And the instructions on how to patch it:

@kaodi
You can use the manual updated above.
Go to the nearest cybercafe, download it (including any additional content you might want) and put it on a flash drive or burn it on cd/dvd.
Alternatively you might get a friend to download and burn it on cd/dvd (maybe send it to you through snailmail).

Of course it is Soth! Any fool can see it ;-) Please keep it, it is distinctive and makes finding your posts so much easier...

Yes ... I was thinking yesterday that you certainly should not change your distinctive avatar just because I personally didn't know what it was! And it DOES make your posts a little easier to find.

Nice to know I am not just "any" fool though. ;)

Oh, I've been through all that. I dont believe anyone will come up with anything new. Atari will either have the patcher changed or not - it's to do with the "security" checking it does. But the moment they put their prfit margin beofr emy being able to use a product I've legally purchased rrom them is the moment they lose me as a customer (sorry - "free cash dispenser", since I haven't gotten anything in exchange for my money!)

I take it that means I shouldn't ask if you're going to do a NWN2 server like you did for NWN? :( :uhoh:

A complaint to the CRTC about poor service and unavailability of proper data transmission over POTS - not to mention lack of ADSL - couldn't hurt. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. You'd be surprised at the value of such letters in the Commission's file when it comes tim for license renewal. Bitching at your MP about the same issue rarely hurts either.

Where in Canada are you located?

Convince a Bell Canada exec to move into your area :)....that can get thinks changed quickly. One moved into our area, and mysteriously, everywhere around his house was lit up within a few months.

Anyway, once I get working again, one of the first things on my list is wireless high-speed, which I think we have a tower for now. Cost will probably be pretty steep, at least $400 for the equipment plus the cards for the computers, and after that double what my parents are paying for dial-up per month. After ten or so years of dial-up though, I think it will be worth it... I may spend too much time on the internet, but too much of that time is spent waiting for things to load.

Well - good to hear you have a way out then. Paying more for hi-speed is something you get used to. It's not a luxury for me - it's a necessity.

I run my campaign from Scarborough. I'm near UofT Scarborough (my wife is doing her PhD there) near the border of Scarborough and Pickering.
