Opening Moves Issue #1: Bombs Away

"What the heck!" Jason exclaims as his coffee mug nearly topples, and the screaming begins. He throws a glance out through his window and sees the more sane people running from the slums. Time to get to work.

The wardrobe flies open, seemingly on its own, and Jason grabs a plastic bag out of it. As we change our view a minute into the future to see Jason run into an alley outside his apartment, tendrils of what could best be descibed as looking like hot air extends from Jason into the bag, pulls a white and orange spandex suit out of it and quickly pulls it over Jason.

Before you can say "psychic telekinetic powers" the hero known only as Kineto flies out of the alley, heading for the slums. Just studying? No no, not in this city.

Powers: Flight +10, sprint speed 200'

Ghost

Snapping out of her thoughts, Ghost notices, that something is happening. In a former life, she might have been one of the reporters hurrying for the door, but she is not. People are in danger and it is her duty now to help them. She likes to see herself as some sort of guardian angel, altho she certainly lacks the purity of heart, which one would expect from such a being. With deadly calm she decides to head for the police station, where she expects more trouble. Floating outside right through the wall of the office building Ghost takes the most direct route... literally.

OOC: Floating at double speed (60 ft.).

Slums, huh? What big bold move could that be? Before Doctor S-3 could complete her thoughts, she hears the sound of sirens in the distance, originating from the nearby slums. She promptly makes her way to the street level and rushes off to investigate this new development. As she runs towards the area, she notes to herself. I've gotta to build a jet pack or something as soon as possible. All this running...while it might keep me in shape...just takes too much time.

STRONGARM

Strongarm: As you are about to exit your apartment, the monotone voice of the documentary's narrartor is replaced inexplicably by an excited femenine one, "We are sorry to break in, Bay City Residents, but we are getting breaking news. There appears to have been several explosions in the poor landside neighborhoods. We are also recieving reports that a police station is under assault by one or more gangs. We don't know what the exact status of the police station is. The neighborhood has been the site of multiple clashes between gangs loyal to the Crime King and those gangs that refer to themselves as the Black Pool Thugs. As our viewers are aware, the Black Pool has been widely held by city officials to be behind the distribution of the drup known as Mega..."

This is not good... Strongarm thought to himself. He quickly overturned some leftover chinese food into the cat's dish and hurried to his car. He hopped in the Bullitt Mustang he bought 4 years ago and sped off towards trouble.

Kineto: You will yourself quickly towards the scene of the disturbance. A horrible site greets you. Several buildings are indeed destroyed, fire rising from what is already little more than rubble. You can smell the acrid smoke. In the surrounding blocks, cars are piled up ,some with red and blue police lightss, blocking off access to the police station and its immediate neighborhood. The station itself is smoking, but is not yet in the same state as the others. Outside the station, in the middle of the street, stands five or so men. As you get closer, you can hear them laughing despite the destruction around them. On their shirts, jackets, and other articles of ragged clothing, you see an insignia, a claw surrounded by a ring..All are armed with either pistols or shotguns. They don't seem to notice as you come swooping a couple hundred feet over them....(Half Action)

ooc: I'm staggering the entrance by the heroes on the scene based upon how close I judge them to be. It should only take another post or two.

Kineto: 5 HP, Unhurt... so far

As Kineto sees the inferno beneath him, the lessons of his grandfather echo in his head. Be calm, Jason. No one but the enemy is served by your rage. Focus on the task. Heeding this lesson, Jason simply reaches out with his mind...

They don't seem to notice as you come swooping a couple hundred feet over them....

...and a tendril of the same kind of force that helped Jason get dressed - but thicker - lashes out from him towards one of the thugs. Let's hope I can contain these before anyone else gets hurt.

Half Action: Energy Blast +10 S, Ranged Attack Bonus +5 (minus that pesky range penalty). And if they shoot back, let's not forget Deflection +10. Oh, and set Dodge to generic +1 vs. everyone.

STRONGARM 5 HP, Status: Uninjured

As Strongarm pushed the handling capabilities of his car he mused to himself.

Mega...Hmm I'm not sure, But I believe that's the drug that Boosts a person's strength to superhuman levels. If he was right he might be in for a bit of a fight.

As one of the gang members finishes telling a joke which is greeted with waves of laughter, the ground shakes violently near their feet in response to the hero's psychically enhanced will. The motely crew, momentarily stunned, eventually all raise their heads up to behold a slight complication in their plans....

Initiative: Kineto, thugs.

Spyder: you weave your way between dozens of poor, indistiguishable buildings, almost displaying any sign of life from within their darkened windows. You near the bomb site. Debri is blocking the street entraces to the block, leading to a traffic jam. Police cars dot the seen, the officers yelling at various people to move aside , "Out of the way, you!!!" Beyond them, and between a couple of other slums, you can see the inferno and something else.....a man..in tights...hovering over the ground..

Nagi: You descend further. Now about 500ft over the scene, you can see clearer the details of event. A group of armed men looking up as a man in orange and white flys over them tauntigly.

Doc S-3: As you approach the periphery of the disaster, you see flames licking up past a 10ft high pile of rubble that blocks the street. Once you get particulary near, a police officer blocks your parth, "Sorry, mam, but you need to go back now, we have it all under control..." He doesn't seem to have convinced himself of that...

OOC: Doc (assuming she gets through), Nagi, and Spyder will join the fight during the second full round.

Strongarm: Yes, mega has been filtering throughout the criminal element for months, leading to a change in the balance of power between the gangs and the police. Several officers, restricted to being phsyically human even as they show superhuman bravery have died in slum skirmishes as a result...

Ghost: You litterally pass through dozens and dozens of buildings as you slowly 'ghost' your way to the site of the explosion. Many of the families you phase through seem unaware or apathetic to the carnage...if only...

Kineto, 5 HP, unhurt

The motely crew, momentarily stunned, eventually all raise their heads up to behold a slight complication in their plans....

The "complication" lowers himself a bit, but not to the low level of these common (although perhaps superpowered) thugs. "Your little rampage will end here, thugs!" he exclaims while unleashing another blast of force at one of the thugs.

OOC: Moving closer to the ground, ideally within 100 ft (1 range increment) of the thugs (half action), but not landing, and firing another EB +10S (half action). By the way, does one of them look like a leader of some sort? Firing on him in that case.

Syder keeps heading toward the inferno... he watches the man in 'tights'... just in case, but he is mostly worried about any people trapped in the mess!
