[OT] PDA advice

My personal preference is for the Sony Clie series. I find they have a much better display - crisper, clearer, and much easier for me to read.

This is definitely the kind of device you should check out in person. Look at as many different devices as you can. For most people, any given device in the same price range will offer equivalent functionality, but the ergonomics differ enough that what one person may think is the perfect size/shape could be totally unwieldy to another.

I would definitely go for a high-res Palm (the Clie or Palm's Tungsten), but for me the price is prohibitive.

High-res color, that is. I believe HandEra (http://www.handera.com/) has a B&W Palm with a hi-res screen, though I believe it's still a bit higher in price.

Dell Axim X5 Basic - $199 after $50 dollar rebate.

It is expandable, can read word and text files, play NES games, has free development tools (Visual Basic and C++)

I myself got the Dell Axim X5 Advance (400mhz vs the 300mhz)

For the price, I don't know why any one would get a Palm OS device.

For more info on the Dell Axim visit http://www.aximsite.com the site dedicated to the Dell Axim.

I can say that on my Axim I have Adobe Acrobat, tons of pdf files, tons of mp3s, a DVD movie that I ripped down to size, my Bible, a few NES Roms, a custom app I made to keep track of my Life in Magic, and Pocket EverQuest.
