Planetouched as templates

I've always felt that the planetouched races weren't properly represented in 3E. Having a demon somewhere back in your family tree is not an exclusively human ability, especially with the appearance of other almost tieflings/half-fiends like the fey'ri, tanar'ruk and durzagon. IMHO, for greater flexibility these races would be better modelled using templates.

As the details are rather long so I'm just linking: http://www.flamewarriors.net/~kweezil/people/blooded.htm

These are based on Ken Lipka's modular planetouched races (http://www.deathstar.org/~krlipka/ps/sense/main.html). Only the tiefling and aasimar have been completed so far, but any feedback would be appreciated.

Planetouched are dealt with in Forgotten Realms starting PG 18.
Not only Aasimar and Tiefling but also the elemental also.

Just incase you hadn't seen them.

I'd seen them. That, and the MM entry was why I decided to make templates for them.

As the rules stand tieflings and aasimar are descended from humans. Why? IMHO, the influence of the planes, or a fiend or celestial ancestor could happen to any race.

My group doesn't use fiends or celestials, but we do have planetouched, and they are templates. I definitely think it makes more sense, and allows for more flexibility. Planetouched humanoids are pretty common in our campaign, and there have been planetouched animals, dragons, and such encountered from time to time.

If you want to see one of the templates, go here: http://www.rollinitiative.com/OurWorld/warrior_breeds/, and click "Ragekin" on the left.

The Forgotten Realms can be added to any race. It uses humans as the standard but there is no reason that they could not be added to any other race.
It is for medium size creatures but that could be changed to base creature as well as movement rate.
The rest could be used strait across for what ever creature you are using.

Looking at the Ragekin I like it, I think it would make sence to give it Intimidate as a class skill. It would give the +2 usefulness. Does that make sence? Maybe there was a reason not to do that.
