The two men creep towards the forest. They rapidly scan the edges of the wood, looking for the makers of the small tracks. Once, Trevor notes movement in the nearby brush, but both are relieved a moment later when a quail waddles out of the undergrowth. After a few moments, they cautiously enter the wood proper.
The wood is picturesque and a near-perfect image of sylvan tranquility. The foliage is bright, crisp and green, the landscape dotted with small glades and a gently babbling stream. An abundance of birds and insects are heard and seen.
