Phoenix lashes out at the creature with her mindblade, but the sight of so many heads staring at her seems to shake her up somewhat...

OOC: Mindblade attack on creature with psychic strike (1d20+8=13, 1d6+5+1d8=14) So I'm assuming/guessing that all the heads are connected to the same body here making this thing a hydra of some sort?

Question: So is Phoenix getting an attack in surprise round here and then attacking at the regular initiative later this round? Or just moving her initiative spot to up front now?

"What in the hells is THAT!? Lookspring shouts as he turns his focus on the new threat. He snatches up another pair of arrows and fires them at the beast. I hope it focuses on those villagers first! Those teeth are huge! He starts glancing about for a suitable path to retreat down should the fight start to turn against them.

Phoenix tries to get close enough to damage the creature, but can't seem to land a solid hit. "Frak! This thing is gonna be the death of me!" she shouts to herself.

Lookspring fires 2 arrows at the huge body of the beast, one hitting true and one glancing off the thick skin.
hunter2 lashes out at one of the thrashing heads and draws blood with an odd looking weapon made of wood
hunter4 misses with handaxe
hunter1(leader) misses attacking with another of the odd looking wooden swordlike weapons.
Hydra attacks hunter13 dropping him in a pool of blood. attacks hunter3 severely injuring him. attacks hunter9 dropping him in a pool of blood. misses hunter5. attacks hunter4 dropping him in a pool of blood.

With 2 heads lying on the ground and associated necks limp dragging behind the beast 3 more hunters lay on the ground bleeding with another still fighting with serious wounds.

on the beginning of the next round you can see the wounds close healed and where 2 heads were severed 4 quickly sprout for a total of 7 heads whipping around threateningly.

"For Gods sake, quit attacking its heads! You will only make more of them to attack us! Quickly, surround the beast and attack its body from all sides!" Phoenix shouts at the hunters.

OOC: Round 2: Mindblade/psychic strike at Hydra's body (1d20+8=19, 1d6+5+1d8=17) With luck we can get some flanking bonuses going. We're gonna need it as this things tears through us quick...

Lookspring's jaw drops as he sees new heads sprouting from the bloody stump. "What hell-spawned creature is this thing!? We're all going to die! He shrieks. With shaking hands he grabs another pair of arrows and fires them, beginning to doubt if they will do any good against the monster.

The beast is obviously hurting as blood pours from its wounds although some heal right before your eyes. You are thankful for the number of villagers as the hydra picks them off.

ooc:you have been lucky the dice have not identified either of you although it would not take you out with one hit.

Seeing another pair of hunters go down like swatted flies, Lookspring fights a rising panic. He grabs more arrows from his quiver and launches another volley. He begins edging further away from the fight in case the rest of the group is wiped out.
