Spontaneous Casting and Metamagic Feats

Question: If a cleric has the metamagic feat of Empower Spell, can he use that along with a spontaneous casting?

i.e. convert a prepared 6th-level spell into an empowered cure critical wounds?

yes, as a full round action. Just as a sorcerer (who casts spontaneously) can use metamagic feats as a full round action
