Preparations are made and supplies loaded. Soon the sun is rising and the small army moves out. A scattering of citizens lines the streets as you depart. Their efforts to cheer you on only make clear how much the city has lost. The people are dirty, bandaged and tired looking. Many buildings you pass are in ruins. The first days travel is uneventful. The lands around the city show some signs of the recent attack, but things are still peaceful the first day out. As evening approaches though you begin to see smoke. Your first destination, Valas's Gift is a smoldering ruin. The place has obviously been overrun by demons and her people have scattered. Valas's Gift lies northeast of Kenabres, a small town surrounded by surprisingly fertile lands. It has served as primary source of food for the city. Now almost no habitable buildings remain. Any survivors must have scattered to the hinterlands. Your next way point, Vilareth Ford, is still a day and a half away and darkness is upon you.

"That would be well." He say little but you can read much. He amiable to making camp here. He give the orders to the lieutenant and the word is passed down the chain of command.

"Well, whatever ransacked this place has probably moved on, but it could be back, especially if we have been already scouted," notes Randlay as he casts his gaze around, hands firmly on Bessy. "We better dig in as best we can and post plenty of watchmen."

As quickly as it is spoken, the troops begin making camp and it is obvious that have done this a time or two as in less than 15 minutes, tents are up, wood has been gathered and fires are blazing.

'Keva settles his kit - what there is of it - and sets himself for the march. Heh. Been a long time since I marched with an army. The canny old irregular's pace belies his apparent age, and he manages to stay apace of the forces without too much difficulty.

Once they've reached their first camp he sets to with a will, helping where he can until everything's ready for the night.
