[SBLOCK=OOC]The reason wizard starts older is that it's ask more effort to become one, at least, it is always like that I've interpreted it. Compare to a sorcerer, they both do the same, but one come instinctively, the other need years of studies. And if you look at one famous D&D wizard, Raistlain Majere, he was enroll in a school of magic at 6 years old. Also, if you look in our world, during middle age, if at 16 years old you start your tarining as a smithy, farmer or scribe, you are retarded. Even today, you enter school at 6 years old.[/SBLOCK]

"Ok, I must have been misinformed. So, you take young students with a basis in magic and further there studies. Do you offer specialities or it is only general advanced study?" ask Rinaldo

(OOC: The Academy is more like a university--it expects its students to be smart, well-educated, and intellectually inquisitive in various intellectual pursuits before they even start trying to become a wizard, since they take wizardry to be an advancement of your general understanding and maturity as a person, not something separate. They have taken a eleven-year-old who was incredibly bright in the past and 14ish is usually okay if they are very smart. As to Raistlin, well he's weird, and Dragonlance is weird in general)

"No, we take students who do not already know how to do magic, since they haven't learned wrong. We offer both generalised study and advanced specialised studies, include double majors."

(OOC: Those are new LEW-only feats to get two specialisations!)

"Interesting, double speciality? You mean your student can focus on two schools of magic... that must cost them much in teh study of other schools, no?" asks Rinaldo

"Not if they're smart enough to handle the double-major, no," the man shakes his head, "The faculty and curriculum are just that good here. They even pick up a few tricks on combining their two specialties passed down by the elite members of their House. If anything, they are more diligent in understanding the impacts of other schools of magic, not less."

"That is interesting. But I'm forgetting my manners in all that. My name is Rinaldo di Senzio, I'm a magical item traders. I do business in Orussus and Monemvassia actually and I'm looking to expand my market. I also do in the spell component market and all that is related to spellcasting. I do not doubt an academy like yours have all it is needed, but sometimes, things aren't going as we wish, or sometimes, things become costly and you would need some new source of money. If it ever happen, I can surely help you. I might not be a wizard, but I know enough to be a good merchant in the matter and I've surrounded myself with good wizards. I even have in my shop a graduated of your academy. He has specialized in divination and magical crafting, but he told me he wanted to further his study soon and come back here. It must be the double major you are speking of."

(OOC: If you want to fit your guy in better, the good crafters are not also the diviners--there are four Houses based on the three founders and a later important Headmistress. Sice is based on power and cutting edge spells, does Transmutation and Necromancy (and the double-major, like Sin, specialises in both). Mordrue is based on knowledge and lore and does Divination and Abjuration (and the double-major gets both and a bonus on knowledge). Omega is based on magic item creation and research and does Enchantment and Conjuration (and the double-major gets both and a bonus on crafting magic items). Daryne is based on ingenuity and creativity and does Evocation and Illusion (and the double-major gets both and a benefit on making hard-to-detect illusions). See the feats for more detail!

I'll pretend Rinaldo didn't mention the last few lines about the graduate so that I don't have the NPC reply correcting him--we can move that discussion to next post)

"I'm not at all the one to whom to talk about that. I just handle greetings of prospective students."

"They picked Thendrin because he's such a hardass--it's like a second trial to get in to have to talk past him and his naysaying," one of the young women, the one with the green cloak, adds with a laugh.

OOC: Enchanter will make it in that case... anyway, it is one of Rinaldo followers, a 1st level wizard that work at the shop and do the identifying. A nice summer job for a wizard :p That's what I didn't like with the specialities, I thought for a moment to have Opale taking one, but she is an illusionist that have as forbidden schools Evocation and Necromancy... no chance for her, she has learn the worng way it seems.

"Well, Thendrin seems to do his work well and I havn't yet found he is such an hardass. Please to meet you, lady. Can I ask you name?"

(OOC: They wouldn't let her in anyway :p ;))

"The name's Larinas. Layna Larinas. Pleased to meet you Mr. Di Senzio."

"Yes, yes. The crux of the matter is that we can't take your child for a good many more years yet. We would be happy to let him try when he is older, though outsiders are known for their low success rate. If you have actually come here expecting to use your family as an icebreaker for a door-to-door salesman routine, I'm not your intended mark--I can direct you to a Dean, though."

"I never intended to have a right through because of my business for my son, just to inform what it is needed to do for him to join and make sure he got his chance if it is what eh desire to do." explains Rinaldo.

For a moment, he looks at Larinas. Rinaldo thought was to find Laynie, the young girl, but he remembered that she grow older in the tower and she wouldn't have reappeared here taking teh same name, or that would have mean she would have been playing with Chronomancy, which seems too danegrous matter to come over easily... probably, she would have taken another name... tat would be even better if she want to hide.

"Me too." he replies to Larina. "Are you been studying here for long time?"
