The Blind Watchers of the Sylvan Shard

[SBLOCK=OOC Two Things] Thallirae is actually not much of an archer (she has the bow as a backup, mainly). Oh, and earlier we had an OOC question about the shards--the people who said that it can be identified because of its immunity to divinations are correct. Whoever said that it radiates strong abjurations is not (it doesn't detectably radiate them, of course, because it's immune to the Divination spells that detect such things) )[/SBLOCK]

How does that sound?
Looks fine to me, you're doing great Heckler!
OOC: Does Richard have enough room to swing a Bastardsword? If not he'll bring out his mace, shield at the ready, of course.

The tunnel winds around for a short way before opening into a strange "cavern". The floor is a nest of soft, spongy fungi roots, and the ceiling has a few small, hollow root tunnels extending upwards into phosphorescent gloom. The walls, floor, and ceiling of this space are far brighter than the tunnel has been so far. The room is bathed in an almost white light from all the spore luminescence. More importantly, there are three exits to this "root cavern". Nhairi seems unaware of that as she treks forward. Then she halts suddenly.

Rinya reacts something just around the far corner.

[sblock=Rinya: ]Camouflaged with the floor and the walls, you see a small humanoid shaped creature, somewhat gnome-like, but instead of clothes it is covered in black, rotting fungus. Its eyes glow bright green. It's like nothing Rinya has ever seen before.

OOC: This is the surprise round of a combat. Rinya has the initiative, she can make one standard action (or move action).[/sblock]

[sblock=Everybody: Spot DC 15]Nhairi is moving her mouth, but no sound is coming out.[/sblock]

Rinya has a chance to act on her observation, then I'll continue.

Instead of responding to Rinya, the creature pulls its arm back and lobs some kind of flask at Rinya.

Suddenly, Tumna, Thallirae, Saithnar, Richard, and Rinya all hear the world go deafeningly silent.

The flying flask is filled with a dark green substance, and as the flask slams against the root covered ground, the delicate glass shatters and green stuff splatters around Richard and Rinya. Rinya happens to be standing in a thick patch of roots, and the green poison acid is absorbed by the fungus branches instantly. A putrid stench slams into Rinya's face, but she is untouched by the poison acid. Richard is not so lucky. (Fort. save DC 16)

Nhairi is spinning around, waving her arms in front of her.

End of Surprise Round.

Initiative for everyone, please.

Notes on the map: ?1 is the thing Rinya saw. Red area is a silence effect. If your character is within the silence effect, please refrain from speaking aloud. The lines on the ground are particularly thick patches of roots. They offer concealment and slow movement, exactly like light undergrowth in a forest.
