Pathfinder 1E The Haunting of Calithil Manor

Intermission

Within the manor's library, the party encounters a fearsome flaming skeleton amidst piles of flaming books. Zinnelis bravely shatters the glass windows at the back of the library, clearing the smoke from the room but causing a backlash from the fire as it greedily consumes the fresh air. The battle rages on, with the skeleton wielding impressive fire magics, all the while taunting the party.

Darwin, Cantankerous Primate

Within the sash on Aelspeth's back, Darwin smells smoke. Smoke! Fire! He feels her begin to cough, her back hitting him in the face, and experiences the pain as if it were his own. His lungs feel seared by the airborne ash. He grabs the top of the sash with one tiny hand and vaults up, out, and down to the floor.

The monkey lands in a crouch and looks about the room, taking in the scene. At his height, the majority of the smoke passes overhead. That not last for long, though...More and more smoke with time, he thinks. He grabs a book from the fallen bookcase, one that flew free and landed open with its pages spread and crumpled, and throws it at the skeleton.

Zinnelis threw his arm up as the rush of air fed the flames of the fire. He felt it licking at him, but the damage was minimal. He sheathed his sword and pulled out an arrow, taking aim at the flaming skeleton.

Aelspeth Noromiel, Novice Conjurer

Aelspeth remains doubled over for a moment, hacking to expel the smoke from her lungs. She straightens and smears the back of her hand over her face, eyes streaming and nose running from the acrid air.

The wizard drops her quarterstaff and plunges a snot-streaked hand into her component pouch to produce a tiny cylindrical tube. She opens it and begins rubbing it over the back of her clean hand, coating her skin with a viscous clear goo. She then proceeds to shout over the roar of the flames, "Uncto lubricum ruinam!" With several flicks of her wrist, globs of the petroleum substance fly off the back of her hand and a greasy pool forms beneath the skeleton's feet.

Rak'Tan swings his mighty blade at the foe, missing badly.

Calithil Manor - Library

Aelspeth's spell leaves the skeleton prone on the library floor; however, the creature still cackles as its aura rages fiercely scorching Leira and Rak'tan yet again with tongues of flame.

This concludes the recovery from the server crash, we can pick up from here. I'm going ahead and giving the party priority. Hopefully that doesn't happen again anytime soon

Zinnelis’ arrow had struck true and then the flaming skeleton slipped and fell. That would make it more difficult to hit, but Zinn nevertheless drew another arrow and fired.
