Sannit Reacts

Sannit thinks about the crossbow at his back, but decides not to reach for it. He will wait with his spear to knock any axes out of the air or use his superior reach to attack any foe that gets within range.
As Sannit decides to delay, Sheldon reacts, attempting to manipulate way at a distance. He attempts to shock the opponent who threw an axe at him.
[sblock=Shock]Range / Affect = Confluence + Will = 15
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Confluence + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Collegiate + Aberrative
Sheldon = 61 + 60 = 121
Resist = 64 + 40 = 104
Damage = 121 - 104 = 17% * 15 = 3
Body = 10 - 3 = 7: hurt[/sblock]
GM: The man's body heats unnaturally to the point of damage. The man is completely confused by the event but does not conclude the cause to be the man standing before him.

At the close of one second's time, the nearest foes are 8 paces away. The farthest 10. They seem undeterred at the idea of rushing headlong into waiting opponents.

Merin Reacts

Merin's plan is to paralyze one of them as he draws near, and if successful, he will order Myth to attack, concentrating on tearing out his throat.
Like Sheldon, before the opponents are able to close more than 2 strides, Merin manipulates way at a distance.
OOC: By "Paralyze" I'm going to assume Merin is attempting to reduce his opponent's Mind as he has done before, rather than attempt to reduce Motility. For general information, any ability can be reduced except Knowledge and its subsidiaries. The effects vary.
Look at Muddle
[sblock=Paralyze]Range / Affect = Cohesion + Persona = 11
Merin = 54 + 77 = 131
Resist = 44 + 83 = 127
Effect = 131 - 127 = 4% * 11 = 1
Mind = 10 - 1 = 9: insignificant[/sblock]
GM: The man's mind is difficult to effect. From Merin's hidden position, he has no idea what has transpired. Myth awaits his opportunity from above.

Saemund Acts

Sylvar B. said:
Saemund readies his throwing axe and picks out a marker that is 30 spans (5 paces) from his position, He will throw the axe in his hand after they cross that threshold. He'll use his large axe as a counter balance to give the throwing axe more force, using a spinning motion much the way an Olympian throws a discus.
As one second's time draws to a close, Saemund begins to throw his carving axe, 20 tics before his opponent tries to throw his own.
[sblock=Throw]Saemund = 81 + 73(luck) - 54(defend) - 50(range) = 50
Armor = 24: Shendyt
Damage = 50% * 15 = 8 - 10(soak) = -2: ineffective[/sblock]
GM: The axe strike the man's leg, in stride, but falls harmlessly to the ground unable to penetrate. The Evipau return throws.

[sblock=Throw]NPC = 68 + 31(luck) - 65(defend) - 50(range) = -16[/sblock]
GM: The man makes a wild throw, but immediately begins retrieving another axe from its location at the back of his belt. He continues to run foreward.

Bolo Fires Again

As the Evipau charging Saemund throws an axe at him, the one charging Sannit throws his at Bolo instead, since she had already put an arrow in him.
[sblock=Throw]NPC = 68 + 64(luck) - 74(defend) - 50(range) = 8
Armor = 14: tunic
Damage = 8% * 15 = 1 - 12(soak) = -11: ineffective[/sblock]
GM: The axe strikes Bolo's Lizardskin Tunic but is unable to penetrate.

Due to their starting distance of 14 paces, Bolo, who first fired at 10 paces, is able to get off another shot as the foes reach 6 paces. She chooses the one who had originally thrown an axe at her since the one charging, who just threw, already has an arrow sticking in him.
[sblock=Shoot]Bolo = 98 + 54(luck) - 54(defend) - 50(range) = 48
Armor = 30: Shendyt
Damage = 48% * 20 = 10 - 10(soak) = 0: ineffective[/sblock]
GM: The arrow hangs in his leg covering but is ineffective.

Indigo, one second seeming an eternity during combat, charges forward to meet her foe.

Tor, leaving Merin and Myth in their hiding places and drawing the attention of the three on his side continues to close the distance. No opponents is currently moving in a direction toward Merin and Myth. At the close of 2 seconds, Tor is not yet close enough to leap.

Sheldon and Merin Act a Second Time.

Having first attempted to shock his opponent at 12 paces, Sheldon shifts tactics as he reaches 8, using a piece of lighter pine to assist in generating heat.
[sblock=Heat]Affect = 15 + 2(lighter pine) = 17
Sheldon = 61 + 20(lighter pine) + 91(luck) = 172
Resist = 64 + 42(luck) = 106
Damage = 172 - 106 = 66% * 17 = 11
Body = 7 - 11 = -4: incapacitated
Mind = 10 - 4 = 6: slowed[/sblock]
GM: The piece of lighter pine in Sheldon's hands instantly turns to ash, the dust blowing away. The Evipau, in mid-stride, falls on his face, his insides cooked, his skin melting.

Merin's next attempt will involve manipulating way with fire, using a measure of lighter pine, to boil and melt the man's flesh from his bones!
[sblock=Heat]Affect = 14 + 2(lighter pine) = 16
Merin = 57 + 20(lighter pine) + 94(luck) + 33(luckier) = 204
Resist = 64 + 42(luck) = 106
Damage = 204 - 106 = 98% * 16 = 16
Body = 10 - 16 = -6: incapacitated
Mind = 9 - 6 = 3: slowed[/sblock]
GM: As did Sheldon's, the piece of lighter pine in Merin's hand immediately turns to ash. Just as immediately, one of the men running toward Tor is rendered incapacitated by an unexplainable searing heat.

Myth does not yet move.

Closing to Melee

OOC: Upon initial reaction, the Evipau were trotting forward from a distance of 14 paces. At that speed, they would have covered the distance in 7 seconds, but increasing to a full run, they are able to cover the same distance in 4 seconds.

Due to initial reaction time, Bolo is able to make 3 bow shots in this time, while Merin and Sheldon are able to each manipulate way 3 times. With Saemund and Tor both moving forward it decreases their time of engagement to 2 seconds.

Saemund is first to react to close-quarters combat, about 4 paces in front of Sannit whose opponent continues by. The Evipau is just barely shorter than Saemund, and sneers as he brings his carving axes to bear against Saemund's larger fighting axe.
[sblock=Attack]Saemund = 90 + 50(luck) - 110(defend) = 30
Armor = 23: belt
Damage = 30% * 20 = 6 - 10(soak) = -4: ineffective[/sblock]
GM: The Evipau manages to partially block Saemund swing redirecting it into his Hoghide Belt around his waist which absorbs the force of the blow.

[sblock=NPC Attack]Evipau = 110 + 83(luck) - 90(defend) = 103
Armor = 01: Hauberk
Damage = 103% * 15 = 15 - 8 = 7
Body = 10 - 7 = 3: hurt[/sblock]
GM: Even though Saemund is partially able to deflect the blow, it still strikes with enough force to cut through his Silk Hauberk and into his body.

Tellerian Hawke said:
Tor will get a running start, leaping into the air at the last moment, and shield-bashing his opponent from above.
As Tor leaps into the air, both Evipau facing him react, though a bit taken aback by the grand move.
[sblock=NPC Attack] Evipau = 110 + 81 - 99 = 92
Armor = 51: Vest
Damage = 92% * 15 = 14 - 19 = -5: ineffective[/sblock]
GM: Getting around Tor's shield, the Evipau's axe strikes the Knobbed Lizardskin Vest, unable to penetrate it.

[sblock=NPC Attack]Evipau = 110 + 32 - 99 = 43
Armor = 54: vest
Damage = 43% * 15 = 6 - 19 = -13: ineffective[/sblock]
GM: The second Evipau also manages to get around the shield, hitting the vest, but to no avail. Though the vest has now taken significant damage.

[sblock=Shield Bash]Tor = 99 + 40 - 110 = 29
Damage = 29% * 11 = 3
Mind = 10 - 3 = 7: barely effected[/sblock]
GM: Bringing his shield down on one of his opponents, Tor is amazed at the strength of these foes. The man barely even feels the blow.

Bolo fires off her third shot, again at the opponent closing on her.
[sblock=Arrow]Bolo = 98 + 62 - 54 + 50(range) = 156
Armor = 77: bare flesh
Damage = 156% * 20 = 31
Body = 10 - 31 = -21: incapacitated
Mind = 10 - 21 = -11: unconscious
Essence = 10 - 11 = -1: dead[/sblock]
GM: The arrow blows through the man's chest, being at such short range, killing him.

Sheldon, whose opponent has fallen targets the one on Indigo, as she engages melee, changing his strategy in an attempt to cripple the opponent. He pushes his hands outward in a mock push toward the man as he attacks Indigo.
[sblock=Attack]NPC = 110 + 66 - 97 = 79
Armor = 60: culottes
Damage = 79% * 15 = 12 - 8(soak) = 4
Body = 10 - 4 = 6: hurt[/sblock]
GM: Indigo partially deflects the incoming axe, but it land on her hip carving damage in the pass.

[sblock=Lethargy]Affect = Adhesion + Will = 13
Effectiveness = Essence + Mind + Adhesion + Knowledge + Will + Wisdom + Collegiate + Aberrative
Sheldon = 59 + 76 = 135
Resist = 32 + 21 = 53
Damage = 135 - 53 = 82% * 13 = 11
Motility = 4 - 11 = -7: immobile[/sblock]
[sblock=Attack]Indigo = 97 + 60 - 0(immobile) = 157
Damage = 157% * 20 = 31[/sblock]
GM: As soon as the Evipau connects with his axe, he mysteriously becomes immobile. Indigo instantly kills him.

Sannit will level his spear at the closest opponent, thrusting to push the sharp tip through his soft middle.

Turtle will sweep his paws low and head-butt to attempt to knock the evipau facing him off his feet.

Bolo will drop her bow and pull one of her kukris and the phoenix feather. She channels way through the feather, attempting to boil the insides of the one facing Sannit.

Going to Melee, Part 2

Sannit will level his spear at the closest opponent, thrusting to push the sharp tip through his soft middle.
[sblock=Attack]Sannit = 99 + 95(luck) + 97(luckier) - 110(defense) = 181
Armor = Armor: shendyt
Damage = 181% * 20 = 36 - 10(soak) = 26
Body = 7 - 26 = -19: incapacitated
Mind = 10 - 19 = -9: unconscious
Essence = 10 - 9 = 1: dying[/sblock]
GM: Using the reach of the lanzita to his advantage, Sannit strikes before the Evipau can reach him. The man is only partially able to block the blow but as luck is on Sannit side, the spear pierces the hoghide skirt into a vital area, dropping the man who is now dying.

Kwargrow said:

The Evipau proves quicker and swings with his axe even has Turtle attempts to sweep him from his feet.
[sblock=Attack]Evipau = 110 + 65(luck) - 61(defense) = 114
Damage = 114% * 15 = 17 - 14(soak) = 3
Body = 9 - 3 = 6: hurt[/sblock]
[sblock=Sweep]Turtle = 61 + 96(luck) + 92(luckier) - 110 = 139
Damage = 139% * 5 = 7
Mind = 10 - 7 = 3: slowed[/sblock]
GM: The Evipau brings his stone headed axe down onto Turtle's shoulder as the bear sweeps him from his feet. The axe has difficulty piercing the thick fur but does cause some damage. Turtle knocks the man from his feet, knocking the wind from him. It does not completely daze the man, but he is slowed.

Merin's Third Action

Merin stands from his crouched position at the same time signalling Myth, who launches himself from the tree. Changing tactics, Merin mocks a punch toward the Evipau Tor had hit with his shield as Myth bounds toward him.
[sblock=Sonic Punch]Merin = 57(bend) + 96(luck) + 45(luckier) = 198
Resist = 52 + 75 = 127
Damage = 198 - 127 = 10
Mind = 7 - 10 = -3: unconscious
Body = 10 - 3 = 7: hurt[/sblock]
GM: There is an audible pop as if the Evipau had been hit in the head, though nothing could be seen, rendering him unconscious as Myth lands on him clamping his jaws around his throat. Tor, expecting Merin to be the cause, turns without pause to face his remaining opponent.
