No, for my chromatics, I like them highly realistic and grungy.
The title says it is from the PHB, not the MM. It is the 50th anniversary image more than anything, so if it is in the PHB then to celebrate those 50 years

Legitimately the best ever depiction of a silver dragon (or is platinum?) ever in D&D mainline art. I'm so happy WotC is finally cranking up the art budget for D&D. First party content should be setting the standard for quality in terms of visual design.
That's definitely a silver dragon. They're big on keeping the dragons on-model for their type, and that dragon has the back fin that goes up and over the head. That's a signature silver dragon trait.
