I'm wondering if some dates got mixed up. Then again, we know that the three core books are going to be staggered, so maybe it's the PHB and this adventure coming out on May 21st.

Weird thought but they said that the core books couldn't be printed at the same time, not that they will be staggered.

What if they say print the PHB books in Feb or March, the DMG in March or April, and the MM in April or early May, but delay the first two book's release till they can release the final book at the Sam's time, so they can also release an expensive gift set version and an even more expensive alt cover gift set.

If PCs are getting a power boost or shift due to the revision, it isn't out of this world to wonder whether the old adventures will stand up to 2024 parties, or whether the expectation is that when running the old adventures the GM will use the new monster stats. I honestly don't understand why some people get so reactionary at the slightest suggestion that they actually, you know, made changes in the new books.
I don't think anyone was "reactionary" about the statement you made above, which is quite reasonable. What they're reacting to is this:
I'm sure they will, assuming you swap out all the old challenges and monsters for the new ones. I can run a 1e adventure in 5e too.
...thus implying that the delta from 1e -> 5e is of the same size as that from 5e 2014 -> 5e 2024. And that's plainly inaccurate. You can't (or in general, shouldn't) just run a 1e adventure with 5e stat blocks swapped in; a good conversion requires a lot more finessing. But the argument is that you can swap 2024 stat blocks into a 2014 adventure just fine.
