My halfling haiku,
though possibly incorrect,
is still damn funny.

Seriously, I think I just miscounted while posting, but I have heard of 5/8/5 haiku. definately not as common, and probably inicorrect, but there is a precedent.

Oh indeed funny!
But for for japanese poets:
Form over content.

And while 5/8/5 does happen, how do you get five on the last line?

Hob/bits/(take/that/Tolk/ien) = 6 to me..

Bot oh my dear God
We are far from the contest!

( not sure if this is kosher or not - I think the language is tame enough. 15 kids per family?? :))

These are all really great, so I'm going to need some help judging. If people could respond to which ones they like, that would help. I don't know too much about judging a haiku, so I'd appreciate input from other EN Worlders. Thanks and good luck to all the contestants! Keep them coming. I think extra points should be given to those who relate their haiku to the hamlet specifically, but just funny halfling jokes are great, too!

A halfling woman
Is always of good standing.
They're just the right height.

Who will check for traps?
What treachery lurks ahead?
Halfling on a rope!

Hamlet of Thumble
sounds interesting, but I
lack money. Free Please?

Halfling is always
in debt, somehow he is a
little short of cash

Halflings of Thumble
defy their stature, they are the
bigger man, you see

Hamlet of Thumble
needs more attention, somehow
it is overlooked.

Sorry, Ed, but I'm not going to vote "yes" for haikus that don't follow the standard of 5/7/5. I've seen one or two that are pretty funny, but don't adhere to the haiku format.

What is *your* take (and I'm talking only and specifically to Mr. Cha, the one who's giving the module away) on the format rule? Is 5/8/5 acceptable?
