I also would have preferred Savage Worlds. My biggest problem with 5E is that you don't have a lot of skills and you cannot really actively level them. Skills are important in modern to sci-fi games for me. I am glad that they did not come up with their own system though or chose 2d20This depends on how they choose to create their system and classes. Esper Genesisxwrspped 5e and scifi together but also worked a form of magic/super- powers in so its transition was easier. For stargate, I could see a lot more "skill tricks " and "feats " thematic to each "class/MOS" creating what one could see as "leveling skills" by expanding what you do with them, ways you can use them, etc. It's all gonna come down to the execution and really all you inherit from 5e is the broader structure of race-class-backgtound and that seems solid most anywhere. That said, I find the green Robin "damage saves" yo be much better fit for "modern heroic" than I do the HP model. So, I could have been happier- but let...

Regarding those epic background. There are four of them but the adventure can played with 4-6 players. Are you supposed to reuse them? Or are only some of the characters supposed to have them? Are they your backgrounds if you choose them or do you also get a regular background? They're entirely optional. I find them increasingly ludicrous, but that doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't be fun to play. And yes, you could potentially have a party of four with every player using one of the epic backgrounds, or a party where up to four have epic backgrounds and additional players have "normal" backgrounds, or additional epic backgrounds created by the player and the DM, or a party where one person has an epic background and the other characters are ham-and-eggers. Regarding re-using them, that's not what's intended, but with the Bhaalspawn and clone backgrounds there's no reason why you couldn't have more than one (Bhaal did spawn a lot of spawn, and clones are clones). Personally, as a pla...

Are they your backgrounds if you choose them or do you also get a regular background? It doesn't really specify, but I think it would be a bit silly to have a whole party of "chosen ones". I wouldn't allow more than one or two, with the rest of the party normal backgrounds. If you have the kind of group who might consider it unfair I would randomise it, perhaps by writing the epic backgrounds on cards, along with several "normal background", and have the players draw one. Storywise, you could have multiple bhaalspawn, but the others are unique.

I just received a notification about this: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/267073/Odyssey-of-the-Dragonlords-Players-Guide Modiphius seems to be involved as well. This is new to me. Thanks for the link. This is a key bit of info: Note: The Odyssey of the Dragonlords campaign book has not yet been released. The expected launch date is sometime in May 2019.

I think it was something else. It wasn't on Kickstarter yet (or I missed it). It was simply announced that it's in the making. The author had some DnD background (if I remember correctly). I also think he was a fairly big name in the video game industry, too. But that's about all I can remember.
