Continual Flame vs Darkeness

Will a Continual Flame spell provide light in an area of Darkness? In other words, is COntinual Flame a "Light" spell? It's listed as Illusion(FIgment) but wasn't it erratted somewhere (since an illusion could not provide real light)?

Darkness and the 2nd-level spell daylight
cancel each other, leaving whatever light conditions normally
prevail in the overlapping areas of the spells. Higher-level
light spells (such as the 3rd-level cleric spell daylight) are
not affected by darkness.
Continual Flame

llusion (Figment)
Level: Clr 3, Sor/Wiz 2
Effect: Illusory flame

A flame, equivalent in brightness to a torch, springs forth
from an object that the character touches. The flame looks like a
regular flame, but it creates no heat and doesn't use
oxygen. The flame can be covered and hidden but not smothered or
quenched.

Continual Flame was changed to Evocation [Light]. The spell description does not say that it will counterspell any darkness spell of equal or lower level. In my opinion, Continual Flame and Darkness cancel each other out, meaning normal light conditions exhist in the overlapping areas of the spells, similar to Deeper Darkness and Daylight.

Wow, Evocation[Light] huh? Well then there is no question that it is immune to Darkness. So for 50gp you have a permanent counter to the old Darkness trick. Guess I better head on down to the bazzar...
