Stacking Class Spellcasting Levels with Monster Integrated Spellcasting Levels

Okay, so say your Trumpet Archon (casts spells as a 14th lvl Cleric), takes a level of cleric, or an Arcanoloth (casts as Sor 12) takes a level of sorcerer.

What happens?

IMC, I allow the levels to freely stack for spellcasting purposes- but I'm curious what the official position is, if there is one.

Thanks in advance.

I asked this question last week, and the answer is, yes. I don;t have a page number, but someone said its covered in Savage Species. Perhaps someone could provide us with a page number

Even before Sasp, the dragons from WotC's Wyrm of the North web feature were behaving like this when they had sorcerer levels.

The first time I saw that ruling was in Lords of the Iron Fortress; in that module there´s a rakshasa whose Sorcerer levels stack.

My question is, how do you figure that into the ECL of the critter in question? A friend of mine made me try to stat up and fit a Solar, and I had no idea how to include that kind of spellcasting ability in with its hit dice.
