Slaad Lords

Were the Slaad Lords (originally presented with the rest of the slaadi in the 1E Fiend Folio) ever stated up in a D20 book? WotC or third-party, I'm interested in either.

Thanks in advance. Just had an idea for a campaign arc, and the Slaad Lords are one of the ways it could go.

Tome of Horrors, IIRC.

Epic Level Handbook has a take on black and white slaadi too, although they may be a bit too high powered for most campaigns.

They've been mentioned in 3e by WotC, but not given stats, and the detail that has been given isn't anywhere near the level that was presented in 2e.

Oddly enough, one of the more overt references to them was in an FR book, 'Champions of Ruin' that presented a minor slaad lord, Bazim-Gorag, who was imprisoned on the prime material world of Toril. Bazim-Gorag was CE rather than CN, and had apparently worn thin on the patience of the primary lords of Limbo, Ssendam and Ygorl, and for the moment continued to exist entirely at their sufference. That he was bound on the prime and out of their affairs probably explains why he's still alive.

Sadly they've gotten little attention by WotC, though it's possible that they might get attention in a future book, or maybe something in Dragon magazine.

*smacks head* Tome of Horrors! I own that book. No wonder I thought I'd seen them statted up somewhere.

I'll have to take a look to see how well they'd work as my campaign's big bad (with chaos cults being major antogonists throughout).

And you're right, Whizbang- they'd make a pretty good Dragon article.

The slaad lords would make a good Dragon article, along the line of the elemental lords article. Heck, stick the current Primus in there, too.

I agree.

But Dragon does not.

I was contracted to write a book about Slaadi (and one about Mind Flayers as a partnership with two other great writers) by Paradigm Concepts back in the old days of the d20 license.

We got the Mind Flayer book together before they removed Flayers & Slaadi from the SRD, and it went to print after the new SRD went into effect, but the Slaadi book got canned.

I was working on the existing Slaad Lords along with a few others that embody chaos a little more (one of mutations, one of reproduction), along with a few slaad lines that fit those themes.

I presented the basis of the work to Dragon after the Paradigm Concepts book got axed, but was politely told they were not interested.

Yeah, the Slaad lords are in Tome of Horrors. Although I'm not a huge fan of some of the conversions in the book... I wonder if there's an update of them to 3.5E?

Personally, I'd just take a death slaad or something, add a few class levels, and advance the little bugger until he's CR 22 or something. Voila! Instant Slaad Lord!

Not really as cool as having Ygorl...not even close... :(
