Anyone know if now that all the hub-bub of 4E's launch is mostly over what (if anything) Wizards plans to do with d20 Modern?

They've mentioned updating d20 Modern to follow suit in a year or so. It's on their to-do list essentially.KaintheSeeker said:

The current plan of WotC is to kill off d20 modern. All support for modern mysteriously ended 2-3 years ago, despite repeated promises. We later found out that all personel supporting modern had been shifted to 4e development despite being explicitly told that this was not the case.
Now all D20 modern forums under gleemax are being deleted. We have been told both: "There will be a d20 modern update in 2009" and "There is nothing in the works for modern". The answer you get depends on who you ask, and what week it is.
The truth is, it doesn't really matter. They can pull the OGL out of my cold dead hands, those damn dirty apes.

Like all 3E OGL stuff is dead and if you don't publish by such and such a date that it's not going to be covered by OGL or whatever.

You are thinking of the D20 System Trademark License. That will be ending soon. After it ends, you can't put a d20 logo on your products, and old products will have to have the d20 logo covered/removed to be legal. That the D20 license has been revoked for the Book of Erotic Fantasy on "moral standards" grounds (even though the BoEF was published before such terms were added to the d20 license, and despite the fact that WotC printed material afterwards that also violated those same "moral standards"). They managed to get by with placing stickers over the d20 logo on their backstock.

But the BoEF thing should be in the minds of GSL publishers. Even if you're in compliance with the license, if they don't like your product, they have no qualms with changing the license specifically to squash it. And just like the D20 License, I believe you must be in compliance with future versions of the GSL, not just the current version when you go to press.
I know WotC does not have to follow the license. It is however incredibly hypocritical to forbid "bare female nipples" in licensed products on moral grounds for protecting the brand image, and then weeks/months later release books that contain said immoral material. Hell, when they released the 3.5 monster manual, they added a significant amount of new art featuring "bare female nipples".
Yes, the GSL can be changed at any time, without notice. And every publisher that uses the GSL will be required to live up to the terms of the latest GSL for all material published past present and future. Its quite draconian.
