Unless you think I'm being dishonest.
Nothing of the sort.

I believe you honestly saw . . . whatever it was . . . that you described. Just as I honestly saw a harmless attempt at humor.

But I suspect we both approached the material with enough baggage for a Carnival cruise.

It's pretty clear that the big result of this video was that the 4e gnome is much more popular than 3e and previous gnomes, and while the MM gnome doesn't quite live up to the awesomeness of the video gnome, it's a sure bet that the picture next to the PHBII gnome looks VERY familiar...

It's telling that the header video that was up (is still up?) at the official site flashed book covers but ended on the 4e gnome.

There will always be a certain percentage of people who don't like cookies, but 4e gnome was definitely a WotC win.

I look forward to purchasing my Rawr the Gnome and Dire Francis miniatures this time next year.

You're probably right on that last part. I wonder how I would have taken it if I had watched it before now? It was one of those that I guess I just missed. Although I understood the "I'm a monster... rarrrw" meme I didn't know exactly where folks were getting it. I assumed it was just a generic comment on the gnome being in the MM.
