Well, we have been playing for many years! So, tell us about yourself! Who are you?

We have been thinking of starting a new campaign with some new players. Inzeladun Master and I will talk and let you know, for sure, about what we might do...

Really? What about a new game with some old players?

Is this game still going? I don't have these rules anymore, my wife having just sold them on e-bay but I might be interested in this type of gaming, or something similar.

Well, I actually just ran it as a one-shot. But everyone had a really good time. It surprised me at how, well, BAD the original rules felt after the newer versions. Basically, using the basic rules (from 1981) and the module that came boxed with them (B1 Keep on the Borderlands) I have no idea how any of us old skool players survived long enough to keep playing and turn this into a hobby.

The adventure, as written, seemed ridiculously hard for first level players. Especially when you consider that characters at that level would have NO access to healing magic. I would say we had TPKs at least 5 or 6 times.

I ended up throwing in a box of cure light wounds potions, and ditching the "zero hit points means dead" rule and they still had a tough go of it.

But yeah, it was fun breaking out the old rule books and giving them a whirl.

Well, we are not ruling out old players. We just think that new blood might be a necessary component to our own enthusiasm being lifted. Plus, some of the recent ideas we have been tossing back and forth would require old players to shelve some of their knowledge of Inzeladun. Meaning the Olan stuff and Alisander being a dead city might have been a dream, if you take my meaning!

All I can say is that I think we will be returning to a more basic premise to start the campaigns, maybe with that old school feel to it.

Another thing we need from players is a pretty consistent commitment to meeting twice a month. We all have lives, but surely we can put something together. And, actually, Thor, I was thinking that you might want to bring your son! I think having a youthful interpreter of the world would be wonderful.

Anyway, we will let people know. Please don't feel like we are excluding anyone. We just want a good core group of people who show up regularly. People like Dave are welcome, but we might want to have them be "guest stars" if you know what I mean. Nothing exclusionary about it, we just prefer a solid group dynamic bolstered by regular attendance. What can we say? We're anal!

I think it is unrealistic to expect the "consistency" of 20-year-olds when we are dealing with people who all have jobs and/or lives and/or wives and/or children. The "irregular" players are all good friends of mine who I am happy to see when they can make it. If Jason, or Dave, or Chris, or Bob, or Craig or whoever can't make a game because of real-life issues that is completely understandable and I really don't think it should be an issue.

And I am glad you clarified that because I wouldn't want to play in a game where my friends were actively excluded.

And, actually, Thor, I was thinking that you might want to bring your son! I think having a youthful interpreter of the world would be wonderful.

He has been quite fun to play D&D and other games with for several years, in my opinion. He brings a fresh look to things and it is a good time for geek bonding with my kid.

Well, unrealistic or not, that is what we are shooting for. Frankly we are looking for players who can commit. We will find them. I don't think it is that far fetched. Would your wife enjoy coming? I know her and she seems like she might enjoy it. Sometimes these things can be cured by including the spouse, though I understand if there is no interest on their part.

I think, ideally, I would like to shoot for a Friday night game with an alternative on Saturday. This will allow a little flexibility. We'll see.

OK about me a little then. I am 40. I live in Taylorsville and was born here. I work locally, sort of. At this time, gaming would work at least short term because I normally take a lot of call but things have changed for a while, perhaps for a long while and I am pretty much 0730-1600, no week-ends. I do have a spouse and children but I think if I have something that is constant it will be fine. Not sure if the spouse can be talked into giving it a whirl but I will try that if things work out to that point.

I think I mentioned I tried to game with a friend's group in Lebanon but the drive is too long. Not just gasoline-wise, but gone all day with two long drives-wise also. Although I have some old friends that I seldom see I wouldn't mind trying to develop friends locally. Most everyone I know does not have the same interests as me.

As far as interests go, I do like to play role-playing games and computer games, with the latter being most convenient since I am able to play when I want.

What's the time frame on getting your group together?

Also, I don't see a search feature so either I am daft or I will just throw out for folks to say if you play a computer game. Specifically if anyone wants to play World of Warcraft let me know and I would love to hook up, or if you are interested in what it is let me know.

You might detect that we have been having somewhat of a schism in our group. We have had a lot of folks with a lot going on in their lives, and it has been difficult to get a regular group together to game. Despite the loggerheads we are currently at, I've certainly had a good time in Inzeladun Master's Conan/Inzeladun games over the past few years.

Well, just to let you in on a secret, Thor, Taylorsville and Columbus do not comprise the totality of what you refer to as the world. Though with travel, communication and media our world is arguably "smaller", there is a great deal that lies beyond the borders of Bartholomew County. I am told that there is even a magical land called Kentucky that exists many miles away.

Of course, I am being a total ass here, so please forgive me!
