New Gnome Look

I maybe the only one who feels this way but I like the Gnome design we saw all too briefly in the Tiefling and the Gnome video and I'm disappointed WoTC went the half-pint elf look they showed us in the MM. The new Gnome is supposed to be fey all the way and I thought the design in the video (brownish skin, black eyes, fangs, barefeet) really emphasized that and don't get me started on where Francis the badger minion might be. I want my Francis.

Anyway my question is has anyone done any art that reflects the T and G video look of the Gnome? I like the design but of course the cartoon look won't fly with my players. Has anyone done any serious art but with that design? I'd do it myself but um well my artistic ability makes a stick figure look like a Picasso. Nobody wants to see that.

Our resident South American artist did at least one sketch taking the cartoon style gnome and making it more realistic. I suspect he'll be along shortly.

Also, I did take the T&G gnome in consideration when making the gnome counter in Castle of Shadows (available for free download at www.fierydragon.com ).

Yeah I would be very happy to see the old cartoon Gnome in PHB2. Which you never know they could do, showcase in doing so, two different looks for the Gnome.

Plus, want that style, since that is the first time the Gnome actually looked interesting to me. It is much more preferable in my eyes to the one in the MM or any previous version.

On a more general character/race/monster art related note:

I would love to see WoTC give a variety of artist a chance to draw their own interpretation of something for a book. So say... There is a book with 7 pictures of a Tiefling planned on being in it, 7 different artist could draw how they would view a Tiefling.

I personally would love to see this, since frankly it is fun to look at different artistic interpretations. One of the reasons I buy art books for movies, like LoTR.

Paizo doing another reinterpretation book, whether for playable races or alleged "monsters," is probably the best bet on that.

Elf lovers should note that they're putting out an elf supplement later this year. Hopefully they'll one day do a gnome book.

For some reason I look at this picture Elijah Wood as an undead zombie Not a slam, I dig the pic. Not sure it says gnome to me tho.

It's a small and hard to tell, but it looks to me like that's a gnome done in the style shown in the video, though it certainly could be a shifter instead.
