Insignificant Gods

You could go the (reality-tested) route of making concrete gods which slowly get more abstract:

- God of That Hill Right There
- God of That Other Hill
- God of The Hill Behind Them

* divine war *

---> God of the Hills

- - - alternately - - -

- God of Sheep
- God of Cows
- God of Pigs
---> God of Delicious Animals

- God of Chickens
- God of Eagles
- God of Vultures
---> God of Winged Critters

- God of Wolves
- God of Bears
- God of Lions
---> God of Predatory Beasts

* more divine strife *

===> God of Animals

- - -

IMHO gods of weekdays are already too abstract. I can't imagine anyone fighting for Tuesday to dominate over Wednesday, for example. But it's easy to see a divine war between the residents of two neighboring hills over which will be the hill of the king. ;)

Hero
Begonyu, demigod of worn out hosts, whose holy symbol is a rotting fish.
Arkezon, demigod of impotence and defensiveness. He has an opposite aspect, too, of hedonism and brazen denial.
Sloan-Stedi, demigod of slow messengers.
Stustoc, patron of cooks attempting recipes for the first time.
Artichok, demigod of spiteful cooking, who commands his followers to prepare dishes disliked by their enemies.
Rhino-terops, lord of musicians and artists with adequate but not exceptional talents attempting to make a living.

Once tried to run a campaign in which the PCs were all gods of things that didn't really matter much. I used some system/game that thought it was all artsy/WoD/high brow and looked more like a coffee table art book. The campaign only lasted a few sessions but generated lots of laughs.

The characters I remember iclude Nigel, God of Drizzle (once a powerful Pagan/Celtic rain god/spirit), Inuchi, God of Small, Lap Dogs and Moana, Goddess of Indecent Clothing.

That's actually what's sort of happening with my player's goddess, the goddess of good luck, who's opposed by the god of ill luck and superstition. She's also picked off the sex domain, as it's now thought of as "Getting lucky."

1.The God of Chieftans, losing popularity because of more democratic processes in rising civilisations/organised kingdoms

Avatar would be a cunning, average intelligent Male with Big Gaudy ornamets and a big beard, he will naturally be followed around by two loyal bodyguard avatars.

2.The God of Specific Tribe, a God who demands sacrifices losing popularity again because of civilisation or maybe just adventurers destroying his cults in the jungle, have him work his way into more high tech cities starting up sacrificial cults again wiht maybe a base in a sewer, a nice plot hook here.

His Avatar could look like anything a Rakasha, a tribal powerful human with blood coated arms, a Mind Flayer whatever fits your campaign.

3. God of storytelling/the passed on word, a God of passing on history through storytellings and memory rather than the new fangled books.

His Avatar would be an old wise man with a long beard in fairly crude trappings with an important staff that he can draw in the dirt with some rare creature on it, he could be overtaken by a student of his Art/Drawings/Paintings and Rumor

4. God of the Hunt Continuing with civilisation the increase in domesticated animals and crops rotations, will significantly lower this gods importance

Avatar a Lean dangerous hunter armed with spear and bow, but no matter how much he rails against the rotund docile form of the God of domestication it does him no good

Well theres a few not sure if it fits your campaign or not some more details on it would be great, plus I don't see too much of a problem with the PC's worshipping one of these gods particularly the god of the hunt, maybe a goal would be preserve natural forests and the hunt either with the Kings law or as a religious festival/celebration.
