D&D Subscription

I just got my 1-yr subscription.

I am guessing that the rules about posting WOTC content will be enforced a bit more strongly now.

Henry, have you guys had a ModMeeting about this yet?

Monster Builder, eh? Has anyone played around with that yet? Sounds interesting, but I'm probably going to hold out until payday (Friday) before subscribing.

I too have my one years subscription, took a couple of attempts- kept coming back with errors, now I'm in I have a link to access the D&D Insider content... it doesn't work of course.

I was going to give them sixty bucks for the year subscription but wanted to use paypal. Couldn't find any way to do. Looks like credit card is the only payment method they're accepting. I thought paypal was going to be one of the options.

Didn't I read that somewhere or was it my imagination?

Maybe in a few weeks if there are no problems with security...

Seriously? No paypal? I'd say I'm astounded, but this is WotC and online work....and to think, I've been praising their progress....also, are you saying you can't get to the content? sigh.

No Paypal really does suck, especially how easy it is to implement, and it's a standard option in most quality storefront engines by default.

I think the RPGA articles should remain free. Especially if you're trying to grow the hobby. Isn't membership into the RPGA still free?

One would think and hope, but it seems they are considered content for Dragon which currently without a subscription you cannot view the latest RPGA article about LFR.

Unless I am just one of those unfortunate people to have a viewing problem with the page, or that article/section of the CMS is currently not fully configured to recognize the article as free content since it is labeled as Dragon content....

I think it would hurt the RPGA to force people to subscribe to Dragon in order to participate. Much like requiring people to subscribe to The Duelist for game rule updates would have killed Magic the Gathering.

It may just be another in a long list of we were in too much of a hurry to do it right this time, but we will get it right next time, and future RPGA articles and information should hopefully be free, IMHO.

Possibly even the most current will reappear in front of the firewall later today when they realize it is having problems loading.

They currently have problems with non-US citizens being taxed (even some US states have to pay taxes on DDI) up to 20% for DDI, and certificates through the SSL tunnel for payment not being 100% encrypted.

So the RPGA articles are probably not an immediate concern on their list with potential unsecured credit card information and taxing concerns. They have to make sure the money is flowing right now first. For themselves, and the customers.

There is nothing I have seen (at this time) that says you must pay to participate in any RPGa event.
