Raksblen was employed as a guard in a caravan coming to Brindol. His caravan came under attack by hobgoblin's on the road though, and Raksblen was knocked unconscious, the rest of the group killed. The bandits were there more for the goods than they were with killing people, so when Raksblen fell into a ditch by the side of the road he escaped their notice. Raksblen awoke to the sound of a cawing raven. He looked up and thought he was dreaming, for the raven, which was standing on a stump nearby spoke to him. "Finish your journey, your time has yet to come. The Raven Queen has saved you from your previous fate and put you upon the path you will soon walk. With her gifts comes a price though, your vision forever will be tainted, so that all creatures you see, show the ravages of time..."
As the raven spoke the final words, Raksblen felt a breeze on the scales of his thick neck. The feathers of the raven blew away in a breeze, revealing dead flesh beneath, which subsequently rotted away revealing the skeleton as it fell into pieces around the stump. Raksblen blinked and the bones were gone, but a single feather remained. Raksblen lay there for several moments, trying to sort out things in his mind. Finally, he stood, and grabbed the feather as well. If a god was going to save his life, he might as well be grateful for it. Tieing the feather to a leather thong from a dead man's boot, Reksblen draped the feather around his neck and finished his journey to Brindol.
Rekblen found the price he paid for the Queen's gift awefully disconcerting. People and animals aged, and rotted away before his eyes, doing the very thing that he tried to prevent, death. When a playing child fell and broke his arm, Reksblen realized the true exent of his abilities, and the child aged and his skin became sunken in mere seconds, the dragonborn realized he could more easily set and repair the wound, or at least since he could clearly see the break, make the child more comfortable until a proper cleric arrived. Though his gift was harmless most of the time, it could be permanant if the dragonborn called upon name of his savior.
Though he knows not the true extent of his role with his mistress, he knows it will be soon shown to him.[/sblock]
