Which class are you least likely to play in 4e?

Warlords.

I understand they are a leader and are supposed to help people out, which they do quite well mathematically, but they do so in such an unexciting way when compared to the Cleric. That little 1d6+stat damage on the at-wills really goes a long way in making you feel like you are doing something useful instead of just waiting on other people to do things for you. I suppose it boils down to "I distract the goblin so that my ally can get in an easy cheep shot" against "I smite the kobold and bless my friend with divine aim", and I happen to like smiting allot more than distracting.

This.

Hmm... Interesting to see such an aversion towards Divine Classes not for mechanical reasons but mainly just don't like Divine-oriented characters.

For me, it is mostly mechanical. I just find the powers kind of uninspiring; they're solid, but they don't stand out to me.

Paladin. I've never liked the paladin in any edition.

I don't get the wizard hate though, wizard and fighter are my favorite 4e classes. They've always been my favorite classes, and in 3e they were on opposite ends of the power spectrum. I'm happy they are in line and they kept the versatility of the wizard intact.

I also have to say that I'm not a very big Paladin fan.

Initially, I almost went with cleric because I'm not that interested in playing religious characters in general. Playing a religious character where 'faith' has been replaced with 'proof' seems even less interesting to me (ie, we know the gods exist), so D&D clerics are usually at the bottom of the list. I would, however, consider playing one in 4e if the setting I was playing in offered a more universal-style religion, similar to the "Temple of 10,000 Gods" or that one group that believed in the divine power inherent in all men (humanoids, really) and that is it was time to abandon the gods, both in the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting. Or in any setting where there was no proof of the existence of gods and clerics were running on blind faith. It wouldn't be my top choice because I'm averse to religious characters in general, but there are a few things I'd be willing to try if you either got rid of proof or had more universalist religious options.

And I've also created a 4e Holy Assassin character that was a Rogue/Cleric, with tactics inspired by the Assassin's Creed character and some D&D cleric abilities splashed in.

So I can't honestly say I'd never play a cleric. A paladin, however, is a pretty safe bet for a "hell freezes over" class for me, though. I haven't encountered a concept I'd want to play, personally, where I'd choose that class.

One of the character class-role combinations that I'm most looking forward to is the divine striker.

I should've voted for the Paladin, in hindsight (voted that I love 'em all).

I just can NEVER get into the Paladin, except maybe mechanically. They just...they just feel like Clerics who sort of gave up on the whole book-learnin', and decided to build some muscles.

Surprisingly, the fighter has consistently been the least disliked class from the start of the poll (it was the last class to get any votes) until now (157 votes in).

What happened to all the come and get it hate? :p

In any 3e game this no doubt would have been answered with cleric, but I'm absolutely loving my Dragonborn Cleric of Kord and his maul. Fighting a good fight where he can, trying to instill some sense in his party members and generally being a very helpful person in combat...

So I went for paladin. As a defender I think the fighter is cooler and I never really liked the flavor of the paladin in general. Although I'm glad they got rid of the code of honor I'm still not a fan...

Next on the list would be the warlord, because it lacks options that don't totally depend on allies to deal all the damage. I hope martial power solves some of this...
