Core Rules PDF's errata'd yet?

So hire more help.
I'm sure Scott would love to, but there are these things called budgets that companies must work within. Scott has posted a few times that he's doing his best on projects we are asking about (PDFs, GSL) but is overworked.

Heh, just about everyplace I have ever worked some coworker or customer has remarked the same thing, "Why can't you get this done? Just hire more help!"

If only it were that easy.

:-S Huh?

So future PDFs would not even be put out such as PHB2, DMG2, etc?

You can only get the Dragon and Dungeon in digital, but everything else only in print?

That isn't really embracing the digital media at all.
Just about every single print 4e D&D product is now available on DriveThruRPG.com right now. I don't think they have the character sheets, the DM screen, or the new starter kit, but they have all the books and adventures. I'm sure that this will continue with the upcoming D&D books.

However, the PDF market at current is a secondary concern for WotC. They make the PDFs available for those who dig PDFs over print, and for those who can't get print books at all (small group, but they are out there).

Digitally, WotC's focus is the D&D Insider. All the cool extra doodads that you normally would not get with a print book you'll find on Insider . . . for a monthly fee, of course.

Again, also providing these extra doodads with the PDF versions of the print books would pull resources away from what WotC actually considers important, D&DI. If WotC had unlimited staff time and unlimited budgets, I'm sure they would do this, but just like every company in the universe they do not.

For example, want people to buy the electronic PDF of the PHB information in droves? Arrange is so that each class is in it's own section and it's powers are done up in card form from the get go.

Subscribe to the D&D Insider. You can do what's quoted above right now.

While I do agree that WotC, along with just about every print publisher out there, doesn't yet take full advantage of the possibilities of electronic formatting, WotC is obviously taking some serious steps in that direction with the D&DI. It's not perfect yet, it's not even "complete" yet, but it is moving in the right direction.

If you can't pay someone, why not hire an intern? I would think that, especially in this industry, there would be someone out there willing to do the work for free just to put that on a resume; or heck, to say they worked in the field and possibly make an inroad into working for WOTC. These boards are a perfect example of people giving their time to add quality to the hobby.

Just a thought.

I understand that there are sometimes delays in situations like this, but I just want to double check: Once the PDFs are officially updated, I should be able to log onto RPGnow.com and click the link that says "products updated since you last downloaded them" and then I should be able to download the new versions, right?

I just want to make sure that once everything's updated, I'll know it's updated, and I'll be able to get the updates...
