The Druid makes me chew the furniture

I'm just chomping at the bit for the Druid release. Anyone else in that "can't wait" category?

C'mon. Let's take bets on the mechanics, role, abilities, etc. :D

I don't think that I have ever played a Druid. I hated 3.5 spellcasting classes, so that's not that surprising. Like everything in this edition, though, I'm definitely curious. Knowing that it's Primal, and knowing how the Barbarian looks, I can't help but think that it's going to be a Druid focused on elemental spells, but with some nice spells that change the environment.
Primal Controller. I almost guarantee a lot of Lightning and Poison damage, a little bit of Cold damage, and almost no Fire.

Really? I was basing it on the fact that the Barbarian, who's also Primal, has a few things that do Cold or Lightning damage.
Sure, there may be a few things, but I doubt that's their bread and butter.

It really depends on what the druid Does. Are they shapeshifters, or spellcasters (or both?). If they are spellcasters, I have a feeling they're going to get a lot of weather-related magic. We might get several Wind related "Push/Pull/Slide" powers. Maybe "Cause Rain: Area causes concealment, difficult terrain".

Elemental vs. Primal would come down to what seems like "nature" elemental vs. taping into elemental forces directly. So, stuff that seems like weather control is probably there. Can see stuff like entangle and other plant based attacks being used to shape the environment, and create zones etc.

Yeah, I'm anxious. The Druid and the Sorcerer were my favourite classes in 3.5, I'm hoping the Ampersand will spoil the Sorc a little too. I'm eagerly awaiting PH2 in general.

The Druid, however, I'm also nervous about. It is such a versatile and powerful class in 3.5 that I'm certain the 4e version will seem like a nerf. While I understand the reasons to give it a specific role, I feel the Druid is a legitimate Hybrid Class.

Cold and lightning are weather, elemental only in the sense of being caught in a rainstorm is being "out in the elements".
