Morrus - How's EN World's attendance in light of 4e?

I wouldn't put any stock in Alexa's data - it's just a sample, derived from people who have the Alexa toolbar installed. There are so few EN World members with it installed that a couple of years ago when I installed it briefly myself, Alexa suddenly reported a 100% increase in traffic!

Yea, I wasn't either hence the "they wouldn't match" remark (your statistical information here locally will always be much more accurate) - it was just some numbers to look at for fun - however, they pull information from a number of sources, not just the toolbar ;)

It was linked merely for entertainment value while waiting for a response :p

Good to hear numbers are going up. If I had to guess I would have guessed up simply because of the newness of 4e. Even those who are turned off by it are still here (obviously, hehe).

It is correct. Registration is not only growing, but it is growing faster and faster.

I have a theory that sites reach a certain "critical mass" at which point their own gravity is enough to generate more and more users at a faster and faster rate.

Hmm. The "Black Hole" Site theory ...

I may have to give Dr. Hawking a call. ;)

Now folks will have to take my word for it, but during the Gleemax period, the Alexa stats for Wizards.com matched up very well with those provided by Google Analytics. At least according to a source with access to the numbers.

I have no reason to doubt you; but in the case of EN World, Google Analytics and Alexa differ greatly. Google Trends isn't great, either - it also tells a different story to Analytics. Analytics is the only one which involves active measurement of a site on the server side.

Traffic is up on every metric Google Analytics has to offer; and on vBulletin's own statlogs of registrations, posts and so on.

So Morrus, do all the new members and traffic help generate more advertising revenue for ENWorld (if I may pry)?

We're selling thorugh our inventory every month at present, which is excellent! That's partly due to WotC having bought so much for the last 6 months - although that ends at the end of December.
