Cheater Dice? Why?

The 'odds' on 2d10 are quite different than a d20 with 2 20s. 1 in 100 chance of rolling a 20 versus a 1 in 10 chance, for instance.

Not to mention that you would get a bit of a bell curve around the 10-11 result.

As for my thoughts on the cheater dice. I really don't like them. I found out that such dice existed just last year. The very next session I check the dice of one of my players that always seems to roll very well, just to make sure he didn't have these dice. He didn't thankfully.

If I caught anyone at my table using them it would be one warning before they were kicked out of the group.

I see them mostly as a gag gift, too. People in my ancient gaming group have them and we all know which dice they are. Sometimes we roll them at the table just for fun (never for real rolls).

One possible legitimate idea would be for a GM to use them openly, to represent cursed dice (or maybe blessed dice). You could give somebody a curse or a blessing and instead of applying the number use the loaded dice instead.

I've known a couple people I wished I could slip a d20 weighted roll low....

Actually I have an old d20 that's got 1-10 on it twice a friend of mine grabbed out of my bag by mistake and used for a while, much hilarity ensued when we realized what was going on.

We've used them. One guy was having a very bad night with the dice rolling well more then his share of ones. So, the DM hands him a d20 saying "Use this, it has no ones on it." :D
