Decent episode. I'll have more thoughts later (you're a trend-setter TS!), but I wanted to put this one out there.

If Peter's power has been so seriously limited, that's pretty interesting. I can't decide if it's a lesser form of his old power, or if he simply needs to relearn how to use it. Otherwise, it seems right now he can only absorb one power at a time - otherwise he would have just flown. I'm not sure how exactly he knows he doesn't have it, but eh.

Is Peter's power limited? I missed the first episode, and only caught tonight's. It seemed to me, that Peter has basically been "reset". He can't accurately control his powers, the only one he absorbed is flight (and now ice and strength), and he still has to learn to use them properly again.

I suspect that the whole tension at the end of the episode is somewhat of a red herring.

I could be wrong, however. Personally, I like Peter, and didn't mind his powers....and if there has to be a character with a whole whack of toys, I'd rather it be him than Sylar......I just wish he'd get pushed into a volcano or something.....though I *was* cheering when he massacred those guys tonight :)

The whole stormtroopers aspect of this new plotline is rather disturbing.....so I have no sympathy for them.

The major limitation that I think Phoenix was referring to is that Peter's now required to touch someone to absorb their powers. Previously, he just briefly needed to be in the same vicinity as a person.

My only quibble with the episode is that Hiro is devolving, not evolving. Being a sort of geeky, naive fanboy is one thing, but his spouting of childish cliches about how superhero Ando should behave (complete with spandex costume) is bordering on a psychotic break with reality.

But on the whole, it was a damn good episode. Throwing a bunch of refugees together and making them fugitives is always cool. It's what made Lost and so many other shows great. The idea of being forced to interact with and rely on people you would otherwise avoid like the plague is always interesting fodder. In real life, many of us experience that kind of conscripted community in public school, then we graduate and find out that will never happen again for the rest of our lives (except for those of who spend time in prison). It's weird to miss something you despised at the time you were experiencing it.

On a side note, has anyone here ever successfully eavesdropped on a phone call by picking up another line? Isn't there an audible, unavoidable noise when someone tries that?

I don't think we know what Peter's power is just yet.

A) Like before, but he has to touch the person to absorb
B) Like A, but he actually takes the power away from the person like his father
C) He only gets it for a short period of time
D) He can only absorb one at a time (he lost flight when he took strength, etc)

My guess is that he only gets one power at a time, seriously nerfing the character and no longer making him anywhere near as potent as Sylar.

I really liked the episode, but Claire is now the most annoying character on the show.

This seems to be a reboot with promise (and it definitely feels like a reboot) - but after S2 and S3, it pretty much has to have promise.

And yeah - Claire is indeed the most annoying character on the show.

The beginning of the episode bored me into doing something else. However, I wandered back around the halfway mark and was surprised to find that the episode had become pretty damn compelling. It certainly ended on a high-but-soon-to-be-low note.

I agree that it feels like a promising reboot. There's something... I don't know... palpably less ludicrous about that episode.

I loved the episode. I think the dialogue between peter and nathan is most telling for peter's powers.
nathan: what are you doing these days?
Peter: what's the last thing you saw me do?

I'm pretty sure peter can only use one at a time, the last person he touched.

I liked what they did in the time jump. It makes sense for the characters. I also like that we're seeing the villain in the first episode. That's important. Mohinder is no longer annoying and claire is, but at least she didn't seem as helpless as she did last chapter.

Edit: oh, and was I the only one who couldn't help but think of Brazil when seeing those prison getups?

Looks like Peter is becoming more like his old man, in that he has to touch someone to assorb their power but, along with that, he will no longer accidently assorb powers by proximity.

Depends entirely on the phone. I've had both kinds.

On the episode, nice reboot so far, I enjoyed the whole episode, except for the total baloney airplane decompression thing. I doubt that prop plane was even pressurized, and there sure as heck wasn't a meaningful pressure difference after a few moments, and sure as heck wasn't when they were so close to the ground. Gah.

Still, promising, which is a new feeling.
