My friend's estranged husband, Michael Redd, used violent force to remove her 3-year-old daughter (Jasmine) from a local child daycare on April fool's Day. He broke into the daycare facility, assaulted the daycare provider and her husband, then made off with his daughter in alleged violation of a court order that required him to undergo drug testing before being granted visitation rights. The initial police report from the CSPD blotter follows:

Upon arrival officers made contact with the reporting party who stated that Mr. Redd (W/M DOB: 05/11/1962) entered the residence at 2215 Monteagle St. without permission and took his three year old daughter from the residence.

The Reporting Party further advised that Mr. Redd assaulted her while he was inside of the residence and then assaulted a second victim outside of the residence before leaving the area in a blue colored Saab or Volvo (both victims are over the age of 60).

Officers were advised that Mr. Redd and the mother of the child are going through a custody conflict and that there are court documents that disallow Mr. Redd from contacting his daughter. Officers were further advised by the child’s care taker and the child’s mother that they did not believe that Mr. Redd would cause any harm to the child.

Officers were unable to locate Mr. Redd but did speak with him on the telephone. Officers placed a pick-up for Mr. Redd for First Degree Burglary and Assault pending the completion of an Arrest Warrant and also completed Missing Person reports for both Mr. Redd and his three year old daughter.

The custody documents provided to the officers on scene allowed Mr. Redd to see his daughter if certain criteria were met which the officers could not prove or disprove at the time.

Yesterday, a court order barring my friend's estranged husband from coming within 100 feet of her daughter was issued. Today, local news station KRDO ran with the story, which shows the savage nature of the attack on the 71-year old husband of the daycare provider's husband.

Police are not currently pursuing this as an abduction case but are pursuing assault and battery charges against Michael Redd. Please, if you are in the Colorado Springs or Denver area, be on the look out for a white male who stands 5’5" tall, weighs approximately 160 pounds, has a shaved head, is 47 years old, and is driving a mid-1980's pale blue 2-door Saab with body damage. Jasmine was released to the custody of her Grandmother (the estranged husband's mother) who subsequently did the right thing and released the girl to DHS. At the time of this writing, Jasmine is at home with her mother. Thank you to everybody who expressed concern.
