In response to Morvannon's statement that they were looking for someone connected with Dennis, Kargyll chuckls. "Ah, yeah. Gwendolyn, right? Dennis's gal. One of my boys spotted that noble she was... associating with... heading to that tavern all you adventurers hang out at. Not surprised he went there. He obviously couldn't go to the 'proper authorities' and risk looking the fool he is. Heh."

[sblock=Magnus and Kamotz notice...]At Madiron's ramblings about a missing pair of red boots, Kargyll's mood darkens subtly.

[sblock=Kamotz also notices...]The guards at the windows tense when they catch their leader's mood, though they still seem casual to the most obvious observer. Perhaps they expect Kargyll to be displeased with Madiron's words.[/sblock][/sblock]

OOC: ...and we're back! Sorry to keep you waiting, but we should be all set now!

Mikara continues to surreptitiously take inventory of the room (number of people, visible weapons etc... as well as possible exits and methods of entrapment.

[sblock=OOC]Hoofchew's map was of the downstairs room. I imagine that it may look a little different up stairs. I don't need a map at this point, just some basic data.[/sblock]

Perception = 1d20+10 = 20. I'll take 10 for passive perception
Stealth = 1d20+9 = 19. I'll take 10 for stealth too [/sblock]

Morvannon scratches his chin. "Well, without betraying any confidences I can say that we were looking for a girl called Gwendolyn. Our reasons for doing so must remain between us and our employer, I'm afraid, although we certainly aren't looking to interfere with your operations here in any way."

That's right...no choice...he had no choice...hehehe. So you know of the one....what of the other?

Magnus leaned forward as if in anticipation.

Thanks for getting it started back up again. :)

Kargyll, we are some very discreet, adventurous folk, who can smooth out things that no one, including the "proper authorities", need find out. We help employers to avoid "looking the fool". That way there is never a need to brood over, negative, experiences.

Kamotz moves over to Kargyll and extends a hand, in a business partner like fashion.

Have any employment?

Kargyll looks keenly at the half-elf. "Aye, I know what Gwendolyn was up to with your employer. She wasn't a Redboot, obviously, but Dennis was her liaison with us, making some of the necessary arrangements. But instead of Dennis bringing us our cut at the end of the job, he and that tart took off!" With this, he slams his hand on the arm of his chair. "No one cheats the Red Boots!"

Taking a moment to return to his previously calm self, he then nods at the dwarf and the shifter. "Our people saw them leave town through the northern gate and head into the Starkreach Woods. They assumed it was just a tryst, but that was a week ago, and neither have been seen since. I'd send some of my boys after them, but as you can see, they're still rather celebratory after our return to this humble abode. You bring me back those two, and I'll see to it you're rewarded. They must be made an example of."

[sblock=Mikara sees...]There are eight guards at the upper windows, two on each wall, all holding their bows. Unlike the revelers down below, they are stone-cold sober, and are as interested in what is going on inside as they are on keeping watch outside of the building. The middle of the upper floor is open, with stairs on the west side, and noise from the fun below can easily be heard. The party is east of the open space.[/sblock]

hehehe....runaway rings and runaway boots...

Magnus stopped and cocked his head to the side, listening.

Yes, yes...away and back...around they travel...complete a cycle...

The mad dwarf traced a circling pattern in the air, he seemed to be enjoying the nature of the situation. The he stopped and eyed Kargyll sharply.

You get your pair...but the ring comes home to its master?

What's known of Starkreach Woods by us Daunton natives?

"I see. Well, as Magnus alluded to, we do have a prior obligation to our employer, to retrieve an item from the girl. Other than that, however, we don't have any particular instructions.

How much of a reward are we talking about, exactly?"
