Pandemic Rocks

the Jester

Legend
Thank you Brain for gifting me a copy!

If you haven't play it, Pandemic is really fun and feels very desperate as it goes on. If you get the chance, you should try it out. I met it at ConQuest this year and just got a copy last night from my buddy. Gonna be playing here prolly within an hour with Brain and hippiejedi.

Yes, it has become one of the best board games. Even after we play it 4 or 5 times in a row it doesn't get old. Everyone always has something to do and the game moves fast.

Aye aye! On my side, I've still haven't gotten a win!

Well, the only win we would have had next turn was "cancelled" due to a Pepsi-on-the-table-everywhere-PROTECT-THE-GAME emergency...

No boards or cards were damaged... But we didn't win!

How many epidemics do you play with?

I've played 6 times the game with only 4 epidemic cards! Close calls 2 times and we lost in 2 turns once (our board had the 3 blocks cities jumbled together and we drawed 2 of these cities on the first turn)!

The game doesn't want us to win yet...

Speaking of coop game, any good words for "Ghost Stories"?

That must be some really bad luck then. We just play with 4 to introduce people to the game and then we move on to 5. Those we win about 66% of the time, but when we go to 6 the success rate drops to around 15-20% for us. I can't imagine that there is a need for a seventh card, but the expansion coming out this summer has that as an option.

Played it 4 times at a convention last weekend. Won 1, lost 3. The researcher was the position most missed when we didn't have one; it's very hard to get cards into the scientist's hands without the researcher.

Our first game we spent too much time healing people and neglected research; we ran out of cards with only 2 cures. Second game we thought we would learn from that, and with a dispatcher-researcher-scientist combo we quickly scored two cures and were almost to a third....when Asia blew up in a massive chain reaction that ran us out of red disease blocks. After that we found a balance of just thinning the worst trouble spots while working mostly on cures, and that won us the next game. The epidemics were less kind to us in the 4th, and we died of too many outbreaks with 2 more turns needed to win.

Definitely going to buy it.
