Page 20 - Insight Check:

Although the DC has changed to DC 12 instead of DC 7 like it is on page 15 (Convincing Shealis), the text is verbatim.

"An argument can be made that regaining the case will help protect Shahalesti because Gate Pass will be able to stand against the Ragesians. The first successful Insight check will also reveal that an Intimidate check will always fail"

pg. 20 Erdan Menash skill challenge:

some copy&paste-stuff from the Shealis skill challenge is left. (edit: has already been mentioned a week ago by John Doom)

pg. 54 Gauntlet Run enemy stat blocks:

the thug statblocks have no stats for crossbows, although they are mentioned in the tactics. The stats for the crossbows are in the tactics-text, but I missed them when actually running the encounter.

Trying to help.
Dead rising encounter was almost a TPK for my party. I realized that the Boneshard Skeletons have 3d6+4 damage burst and their boneshard damage attack is 1d8 +4.
I looked up the monster manual and i checked the damages: 2d6+3(burst) and 1d4+3(boneshard attack). As both creatures are lvl 5 and I don't see any significant difference that compensates that damage, I suppose it's an errata.
Something similar happens with the dwarven wight. You changed the original skirmisher wight into a soldier one. That is ok, but I feel that the soldier is much more tougher than the skirmisher.
Thanks in advance!!!:)

Errata for paper version?

Hi all, I was thinking about buying the paper book, instead of the pdf version, but I really like the idea of getting a versioned pdf.

Wondering if there's going to be something similar for paper. Of course, I don't expect a fully reprinted paper version, but will there at least be a printable errata, incorporating all the corrections in one easy-to-find place?

Thanks!

Languages. In our game, our DM (who will remain nameless... :p) has referred to the Shahalesti speaking their own language.

Assuming Shahalesti and Elven to be different, it should be mentioned in the Player's Guide. If they're not, it should be clear to the DM.

I'm assuming Ragesian is either common or giant, depending on whether you're talking to orcs. I don't really know.

Here are a few things I've found so far in #1:

Ambush!
  • Text says there are 2 thugs, but map shows only 1
  • Collapsing ceiling - do I roll 1d6, once per round, until every ceiling area has collapsed? or do I roll 3d6 each round, once for each ceiling area? I.e. can they all fall in the same round, in initiative order from c1 - c3?
Shocking Revelation
  • If larion escapes, he makes an impossible jump - how??
  • He then quaffs a potion that is not listed in his equipment (presumably a potion of feather fall)
Flaganus Mortus
  • It's not clear to me where the wood stoves are

Th Dirge Player
  • This encounter refers to a Bard power that no longer exists in 4e
In the Safe House
  • There's a book in the case, written in Barazhad. What is this language, and does it still exist in 4e?

There are 2 thugs. Just place him close to the other one.
Roll 1d6 each round. If a collapse is rolled, start at C1. The next round, roll 1d6 again to see if C2 falls. This is like stacked dominos, the first one falls before the second one.

Shocking Revelation

Yep, he makes an 'impossible' jump. Maybe you'll come across him again and can ask him (and even if you killed him, there may be others like him).
There is a plan :]
Remember that the new Stat Block method is designed to only show items applicable to the encounter-at-hand. The 'feather fall' potion is not the potion he quaffed. Remember, Larion landed *lightly* on a snow-covered roof. That is not typical of even the rogue's 'Great Leap' at-will utility. Maybe the floating down and the jump are related. There is another module in Gate Pass, so you will have to wait. As far as the potion is concerned, I should have added a healing potion to his equipment.

Flaganus Mortus
  • It's not clear to me where the wood stoves are
The two bluish-metallic items on the left and right walls with tiny wood piles next to them.

Th Dirge Player
  • This encounter refers to a Bard power that no longer exists in 4e
The PHB2 wasn't released when that was written and I figured the phrase '(or a similar effect)' covered the bases. I didn't italicise 'inspire courage' like I do with a power, so I hoped that it would be interpreted as an emotion-changing activity, not an old SRD artifact. I was really hedging my bets on GSL-related stuff on that one. The first phrase can be easily deleted now that we have a real bard class.

In the Safe House
  • There's a book in the case, written in Barazhad. What is this language, and does it still exist in 4e?
PHB pg. 25. Primordial-based.

First off, I must say that I'm really loving the beginnings of this campaign (I've only purchased the first 4E module in order to check it out, but I'm certain I'll purchase the remaining modules).

However, something jumped out at me as I was reading through the module. This is more of a general 4E system clarification than anything else. Not sure if you've addressed it after the first module, but I wanted to bring it up just in case you overlooked it. If someone else has already brought it up I apologize.

Perception / Insight rolls

Or more specifically, when to use them versus the PC passive Perception / Insight scores.

When the PCs are actively trying to do something that falls under the purview of these skills (checking for traps, trying to figure out if someone is lying, etc), they roll.

If they are not actively using them (i.e. they come upon a trapped door but do not state that they are searching for traps), then the passive scores should be checked to see if they notice whatever is going on.

An example might better illustrate my point. In the very first scene inside the pub, the module calls for the PCs to make DC 10 Perception checks to notice the bells chiming throughout the city. Unless the PCs state that they are listening or looking for anything out of the ordinary, the passive perception scores should be used. No rolls necessary. If their passive scores beat the DC, they notice. If not, they don't.

Keep up the good work!
