I really thope (think/hope) that WotC has learned that re-tooling an old setting for 4e reaps a lot of antagonism.

Retooling Eberron for 4e reaped very little antagonism. Retooling FR created a lot, but that's because they were trying to update it to a new edition and try and get rid of a lot of the cruft that had built up in the setting over 3 editions at the same time.

I want Dark Sun. I'm betting on Dragonlance.

In either case, I want the setting "Rolled Back", with any future developments left as optional. Should they publish Greyhawk, ditto.

As for Spelljammer, Planescape, and Ravenloft - I honestly don't see these getting their own books. I feel they'd best be covered by generic Planar books.

If it were a new setting, I'd bet on Rich Burlew's or Phillip Nathan-Toomey's - the runners-up in Wizard's setting search. WotC still owns publishing rights to both; I don't see why, if they needed a new setting, they wouldn't choose one of those and start working it into a 4e setting.

Me three -- I do want to eventually see Rich's and Philip's settings released, to see that pile o'goodness.

Call me crazy, but I thought someone important and in-the-know posted in another thread saying Dragonlance is not the new setting. I may be wrong...

It looked like that at first, but then it came out that the person in question was not actually in-the-know and was just speculating like the rest of us.

Ampersand said there'd be clues in the posts. So far, they have shown Draconians, mentioned Minotaurs in PH3, put Raistlin in as a demo character on the Character Builder, and this is the 25th anniversary of Dragonlance.

While it could be bait'n'switch, that seems pretty unlikely, to me.

I'm looking at a Spelljammer ship on the cover of "The Plane Above" as I write this.

(Of course they wouldn't even need to make this an actual setting, just incorporate it in to the "core" system as part of planar travel.)

Psionics in the PHB3 are the main clue for me that it might be Dark Sun. Also, considering the Player's Guide / DM's Guide structure, I think it's the cleanest fit.

I think Spelljammer and Dark Sun are the most likely. Dragonlance is less likely, but still very possible. Everything else is just plain out of left field. :)
