Hello guys,
I've created some monsters for a more or less funny setting placed in a giant kitchen and I'd be glad if you could comment on them especially in balancing issues ^^
First one is only a slightly modified Needlefang Swar
Army of Gummi Bears
Level 1 Soldier
Medium natural animate (swarm)
XP 100
Initiative +4
Senses Perception +5
Swarm attack aura 1; the Army of Gummi Bears makes a melee basic attack as a free action against each enemy that begins their turn in the aura
HP 28 Bloodied 14
AC 16 Fortitude 12 Reflex 12 Will 14
Resist half damage from melee and ranged attacks Vulnerable 5 against close and burst attacks
Speed 4, climb 2
Get him! (standard; at-will)
+6 vs AC; 1d4 + 3 damage (+ 1d4 damage against a prone target)
Make him stumble! (minor; at-will)
+5 vs Reflex; the target is knocked prone
Alignment Unaligned Languages None
Str 12 (+1) Dex 10 (+0) Wis 10 (+0)
Con 14 (+2) Int 12 (+1) Cha 10 (+0)
the party fights against the following creature on top of a giant stove... the plates are traps and deal fire damage
Chocolate Elemental
Level 2 Brute
Medium natural nagical beast
XP 125
Initiative +3
Senses Perception +5
HP 43 Bloodied 21
AC 14 Fortitude 15 Reflex 13 Will 10
Speed 5
Slam (standard; at-will)
+5 vs AC; 1d8 + 4 damage.
Boiling
If the Chocolate Elemental is hit by an attack with the Fire keyword it enters a boiling state until the end of its next turn.
While boiling the Chocolate Elemental gains a second standard action per turn.
Flowing Form (move; at-will)
The Chocolate Elemental shifts 3 squares ignoring difficult terrain.
Alignment Unaligned Languages None
Str 16 (+4) Dex 14 (+3) Wis 10 (+1)
Con 14 (+3) Int 10 (+1) Cha 8 (+0)
next one is a minion with some annoying special ability
Cookie Warrior
Level 2 Minion
Medium natural magical beast
XP 31
Initiative +3
Senses Perception +6
crumb-reanimation aura 4; (see also crumbly death)
HP 1; a missed attack never damages a minion
AC 16 Fortitude 15 Reflex 14 Will 11
Speed 6, climb 3
Candy Cane (standard; at-will)
+7 vs AC; 4 damage
Crumbly death
When the Cookie Warrior is reduced to 0 HP, it crumbles.
At the beginning of its next turn if theres a living Cookie Warrior in its aura it is revived but take a cumulative penalty of 1 to all defenses and damage. If the damage would be reduced to 0 by this revival the Cookie Warrior dies.
In addition to that a player that is adjacent to a crumbled Cookie Warrior can spend a move action to scatter its crumbs to kill it instantly.
Alignment Unaligned Languages None
Skills Athletics +9
Str 16 (+4) Dex 14 (+3) Wis 13 (+2)
Con 12 (+2) Int 12 (+2) Cha 10 (+1)
Equipment candy cane (improvised melee weapon)
The Players can learn about scattering its crumbs with a successful Arcana Check DC 20
The last one is the boss they meet when they enter the oven... Inspired by the classical Final Fantasy Bomb and the Spirit of Winter from a Dungeon Magazine and some elemental typhoon like monster from MM
Hinotama
Level 3 Solo Skirmisher
Medium Elemental Magical Beast (fire)
XP 750
Initiative +4
Senses Perception +4; darkvision
Scorching heat (Fire) aura 2 (not active when bloodied); each creature that starts its turn in the aura takes 3 fire damage
HP 227 Bloodied 113; see also Fire blast, Expand, Explosion
AC 17 Fortitude 14 Reflex 17 Will 12
Resist 15 fire Vulnerable 5 cold
Speed fly 6 (hover)
Action Points 2
Fire blast (standard; at-will) Fire
+8 vs AC; 1d6 + 4 damage + 1d6 fire damage (the damage dice change to d8 while the Hinotama is bloodied).
Fiery rage (standard; at-will)
The Hinotama makes two Fire blast attacks.
Hot Spurt (standard; recharge
)
The Hinotama moves twice its speed and during that movement it can pass through creatures spaces. Each creature the Hinotama moved through takes 6 fire damage. This movement does not provoke any opportunity attacks and must end in an unoccupied space.
Explosion (standard; encounter)
Close burst 1/2/3; +5/+6/+7 vs Reflex; targets creatures; 2d6/2d8/2d10 + 3 fire damage.
At the beginning of the battle only the first column of effects is available. When the Hinotama is first bloodied this power recharges using the effects from the second column.
At the beginning of its turn if the Hinotama has less than 20 HP, it uses that attack one last time using the third column of effects and dies afterwards.
Expand
When the Hinotama is first bloodied it expands and from then on it takes up the space of a large creature. If possible it expands in a way that no creatures occupy its new space. If that's not possible the creatures occupying this space are pushed 1 square.
Alignment Unaligned Languages Primordial
Str 14 (+3) Dex 17 (+4) Wis 8 (+0)
Con 14 (+3) Int 12 (+2) Cha 10 (+1)
If I come up with new bosses I will update this threads...
