Level 6: Jack of all TradesScholar, Deva Wizard
Listen to the crowd...it's just you and me out here, and only one of us can die. Are you sure you don't want to work this out peacefully?
Long ago having chosen to go by a title instead of a name, the deva that calls himself the Scholar prefers not to fight at all, unless it can't be avoided. That's why, when an old enemy of his framed him for crimes he didn't commit, he was assigned to the most deliciously ironic punishment there could be...a life fighting others for the amusement of onlookers.
However, the Scholar...intelligent and resourceful, with countless lives of experience to guide him...has other plans...
[sblock=Background]He's gone by many names over the long, many years, and after forgetting more than he ever knew he decided to adopt a name that was a word; a word that captured his essence. From that point on, he called himself The Scholar. A seeker of knowledge and truth, dedicated to their spreading.
Predictably for a being of high ideals and unflinching, uncompromising morals, the Scholar has made many enemies in the halls of power. During a crisis between Bael Turath and Arkhosia, the Scholar averted war by revealing information humiliating to one of the Arkhosian generals; proving he was acting on his own vendetta rather than at the behest of the government. It wasn't until his next lifetime than the general was ready to strike him back.
After the Scholar's 'death' the general got to work, rebuilding his honor, forming new alliances and gaining favor. With divinations, he learned when his foe would return to the world. It took time, and resources, to track the Scholar's new incarnation down, but it was well spent in the eyes of the general.
The new Scholar found himself in the holding pen of an arena as a prisoner of war, based on an Arkhosian military tribunal's declaration that he was a spy for Bael Turath. A tribunal headed by none other than his old friend.
Now he must fight to survive as he attempts to do what few have ever done; escape.[/sblock]

[sblock=Description]
The Scholar is a tall, slim male deva with sky-blue tinted skin and gently glowing cyan eyes. His arms and legs are a little long, proportionally, giving him a somewhat gangly look. Most often he has an expression of intense interest in whatever he's doing, or a bright, cheerful grin. His hair is short, impeccably groomed, and is a very light shade of blue, almost white or silver. Both skin and hair have a pattern of slightly darker shade running over them.
His tastes in clothes are somehow both elegant and eccentric, typically wearing a pair of fitted brown pants and snug white or off-white tunic-style shirt over which he layers the complicated and dangerous looking Shockweave Vest...a leather vest covered in wires and sockets that softly buzzes when it's been activated. Over everything is his splendidly multicolored Deep-Pocket Cloak; a patchwork quilt of a garment, with each square of cloth being a different vibrant hue.[/sblock]

[sblock=On Things Gladiatorial]The Scholar, while no pacifist, is at loathe to kill beings who do not willingly pose a threat to him or innocents or allies. As such, his tactics in the arena are often nonlethal. He's fond of spells like Web and Sleep that incapacitate without causing harm.
If he does escape, he will desire to put some distance between himself and his new nemesis...preferably with companions to watch his back. Eventually he will want to confront the general again, on more equal terms, but he knows that time is not yet.[/sblock]
