I have to confess, the lack of this is what fuels my vote. I just don't get the Warden, partly because there isn't an iconic character associated with it. Similarly, I don't get the Invoker (who I will likely vote for next round), and I think Gandalf is a poor character on which to draw an analogy. Despite being the inspiration of Wizards (and apparently Invokers?) everywhere, he truly escapes definition by D&D classes. I keep trying to draw mental connections for these two classes, but I keep falling short. Swordmages and Warlocks will be next, for similar reasons, although I think I "get" them just a tad better.I wish I could vote to defend the warden!
I really like the guy. I know he's going to get kicked out, but, well, its a richly thematic class that's mechanically sound. The only failure I think it demonstrates is one of communication- I don't think the warden writeup really gets the idea across. I think an iconic character or a piece of short fiction would really help.
Seriously, while I know its too late to save the warden, those who voted against it should open up the character builder and throw together a goliath earthstrength warden with stone themed powers, or an elven wildblood warden with an animalistic theme. It really works.
