I'm also confused as to why the Cleric got voted off; have the people who voted for it read Divine Power?

Welll DP did manage to open up some builds for it... the non attacking healer roars to feverish life. The domain feats while looking promising were ummm too lame? for me. The whole class really requires a lot of feats to get your cleric to feal like a "Preist of X" isnt that supposed to be his schtick? the blandness of a cleric is choking and he has to really pump to get flavor.

So speak up in his defense... although yeah by now for this pole it's too late

See me after class.

But yeah, I agree: the overwhelming Cleric = Radiant association 4e has, combined with the fact that the Domain feats are just another option in a sea of them, makes sure that all Clerics feel the same. Then again, the dedicated, gigantic spell list for 3.5 Clerics kind of choked the uniqueness out of them, too. "Ooh, my Earth Domain gets me an extra stone shape! ...Out of the five other 3rd level spells he gets. How earth-y." Maybe it's just me. Good riddance, 4e Cleric! May 5e give you some dang flavor.

Why is Charisma and attack stat for ANYTHING? The arrow likes me so it's more likely to hit what I want it to? :P

So stuck on a wrong old narrow meaning :p, it doesnt mean pretty either.

Read about the root of the word
define:Charism - Google Search

Charism means a "divine gift" literally

In D&D 4e Charisma includes "spirit" and "creative thinking" often the root of "trickiness" and your ability to be inspired and "guided" by the divine...it is "spirit" too... (the part of Will Power that is wild ... not the discipline Wisdom part).

In Kendo (fencing) if you do not attack with spirit you do not get a point...

There is measurable evidence that ones attitude ("spirit") can increase the power of an punch ...and we are not talking subtle amounts. I mean by greater amounts than artificially induced adrenaline ;-). (half again more than a passionless attack would be a fair setting).

Intelligence includes being tricky in a very planned predictable fashion.
Charisma includes being tricky in an inspired off the cuff fashion.

Either are very useful for attacking ...

which rhymes with a** (edited for television).

no time for precision posting (prolly shouldn't even be doing it now).:p
I kid, I kid! Boring days at the office make for snarky replies.
Why should I worry about the earlier versions?
To reference my own post, it has #2 but not #1; interesting mechanics, but crap for "patron of my deity" flavor. I'm almost bringing up their 3.5 version in a weird sort of defense; "It's not the 4e Cleric's fault! Their flavor's been slipping into snooze territory for a while! Give 'em another chance, Clarence!"

Well, kinda the way i have played it all the time, not just 4th... Now it was built in the rules, that's diferent.

Even bluffing in combat was a way of having the same results.

I've often heard it referred to as a "healthy swing" at a target. ;)

My warlocks power is incredibly painful if you arent distracted by the pain its relatively easy to guide it .. but overcoming that dureess is via CON... and they get tough the longer they use it.

A 6 second melee round isnt 1 action CON melee training often involves using a lot of attacks that never get weaker (its sort of a barrage that is sustained
instead of being so bursty... you just keep on coming ... no brassy big showiness.. just a persistance that is hard to deny.

I'm pretty sure the cleric got knocked out because of the general, "oh, man, I guess I'll play the cleric if no one else does" attitude that created a whole lot of ill will towards it as a class. I don't think that's fully healed, even with 4e's "leader role" opening up the options a bit.

I'm tired of the Paladin class. It turns the exciting idea of a warrior-priest or a holy crusader into a played-out gimmick no matter what game they're in. Lay on Hands has become a staple and a disservice to the concept and I can't understand this obsession with special mounts and fiery swords. I think a well-played Fighter serves as an excellent paladin and sheds the unneeded fat that's built up over this concept.
